If you have a lump in your breast, or any of the other classic outward symptoms (skin dimpling, nipple discharge any color than clear/milk, redness and hot to touch), then stamp your feet and yell and demand a sooner appointment. If that does not work, call the manager. If that does not work, call your doctor. Then your insurance company. Trust me, you will get in.

If you don't have a lump, please post a formal complaint, in writing, to the manager of the clinic/office, with a copy to your doctor and the insurance company. Then wait patiently. If they don't get you in sooner this year, your complaint may put into motion the necessity of more staffing/longer hours/ another machine, to accommodate you better next time.

We, the mammographers, can only do so many mammograms in a day. Patient complaints is what brings in more staffing/machines. I ALWAYS accommodate the patient who has a lump, etc .within a week.

Thanks!

The earlier breast cancer (or any cancer) is caught the better results. I know the waiting time for a mammogram can be long but do you get regulaar mammgrams, if you do this is probably ok. If you have a lump in your breast your Dr. can get you in fast. I have a lump in my breast and the Dr. got me in in about 4 days. They do have time for emergencies.

We do not even have any mammogram where I live yet! However when I located the lump I 'assumed' I would get a mammogram? The training Doc with the Surgeon asked if I had a mammogram and I said no, then she started to tell me how stupid I was. When the Surgeon arrived in the midst of this, he had to explain about lack of mammograms. However my Primary Doc stated 'You have a lump and it would show on the mammogram, but they would still need to investigate, mammogram would not tell them what the lump was!'
