can a barn owel carry a fifteen pound dog away

Not usually a 15#, but they could with a smaller dog. Coyotes are getting to be a bigger problem, even in large cities.

No they can not. A barn owl only weighs 3-5 lbs . They look big, but they have a lot of feathering and hollow bones. Your 15 lb dog is safe. They will not attack carnivores either- they stick to chipmunks and mice. Rabbits are even getting too big for them.

Probably not, but a 5 to 6 pounder wouldn't be a problem for them. House cats are actually one of the mainstays in an owl's diet. They also like chickens. We found out the hard way, until my grandfather blew that owl to smithereens with his double-barreled 12 gauge.

yes barn owls will carry away the toy breeds such as chihuahuas ,papillions and yorkies. but a 15 lb dog i would be suspicious of that .
