Are Atheist girls more likely to be promiscuous?

Every girl I have ever met that has gotten pregnant at a young age, I swear 9 times out of 10 came from very strict Southern Christian homes. I was raised in a very liberal household and I never even thought about it. You play you pay and I didn't want to ante up.

This is an interesting question that has turned into Catholic bashing. I went to a Catholic school and there was not one pregnancy there. Also, no knives, fist fights or police called to the scene. It was just a nice school where they tried to teach us moral values and we were allowed to talk about Jesus without people freaking out.

In answer to the original question, I think our culture as a whole does not place great value on sexual integrity. All girls are given the message through the media, etc. that promiscuity is no big deal.

Based on my own experiences, most definately not. I was raised in a Catholic family but I am not Catholic. I went to public school. I never heard anything about girls sleeping around with boys in that school and getting pregnant.

Now the Catholic school, on the other hand, was infamous in my city (and a town I lived in before). Infamous for unwanted, unmarried pregnancies, drug abuse, and worse. I saw at least one fist fight at that every week, while I saw only one at the public school EVER. The police were there at least every couple of weeks. They found knives in the lockers, they found a gun once there, drugs, etc.

Edit: let me add this.....

Teenagers love to do whatever you tell them not to do. The Christians, thinking they're doing the right thing, tell their teenagers not to have sex. It pretty much guarantees that they will.

Public school parents (Atheists and people of all other religions) teach their children to have sex responsibly. They know that their kids are going to do it anyway, so they make sure their kids are protected by making sure they understand about STD's, birth control, and the possibility of getting pregnant.

The more you try to hide things from your kids, the more they will try to find out for themselves what its all about. Because thats what teenagers do.

I wonder if anyone's ever done an actual study about this, though? How would they define "promiscuous"?

No, I think the likelihood is about equal. However, the Christian girl is more likely to be naive and oppressed, and thus easier to seduce.

Sadly, the ones taught abstinence only are the ones that don't bother to use a condom... they've been taught all their lives they don;t work, so why waste the effort?

The biggest group of tramps I have EVER met in high school and in college are ALWAYS the one who claim to be "devout christians".

Now, i'm not saying that all christian girls are tramps, but the tramps I have met all claim to be christian...

No. We're not more promiscious in that we'll sleep with just anyone. That has less to do with being an athiest and more to do with poor self-image.

However, when we do go to bed with someone, we might just have fewer hang-ups and inhibitions about sex.

Not at all.. At school only the very catholic ones got pregnant at 14.
