Can you wake up dead?

If you go asleep alive and you die, do you wake up and realize you're dead?

Like, if you get shot in the head while you're asleep, do you wake up before you die or do you never realize that you've been shot and just die and wake up, ehere ever you go, dead?

People who have had 'near death experiences' (where they have been clinically dead and then revived) will report themselves leaving their body and watching the operation being continued, for example.

If you die, you don't wake up and realize that you're dead. If you realize you're dead, then you didn't really die. There may be a brief moment of consciousness or awareness before you die, but once you're dead, you stay that way.
