why wouldn't I buy a Playstation 3?

Most of the answers above me are ignorant...

The graphics for the "multi port" games are based on the XBOX360 graphics. They're simply the same game that was optimized for the XBOX360 that is put in the format for a PS3 and it WILL look basically the same.

You can't judge the graphics nor capabilities of a game console in it's inception.. look at the PS2.. the FINAL games for it are the ones that take advantage of it's full potential (such as GOD OF WAR 2).

But don't judge the PS3 based on the poor graphic quality of the games being ported directly to it from the Xbox360.

THe folks saying the graphics aren't any better.. don't seem to understand the technology involved.

The PS3 has had issues in it's release just like the XBOX360 did, and the PS2, and the Xbox, etc. The only difference is that it's more recent.

As far as why you WOULDN"T buy one?

If you can't afford the PS3 then you probably can't afford the HD TV to take advantage of the graphics (something no other game system can do right now.. and no, XBOX360 can't play in HD.. it can stream to RGB, but it's not HD format, it's just analog RCA connectors in streaming format.. no gain) and you can't afford the blue-ray movies to take advantage of the much higher resolution it affords.. AND if you're as immature as some of the people on here trying to peddle their XBOX360 mistake on everyone else.. than that's why you shouldn't buy one.

I'd prefer if the xbox kiddies stick with their systems and leave us adults alone.

A this point, there is no real incentive to buy one. The best games are still being made for the PS2, and by the time any good games are made for the PS3, it will be the end of 2007 or 2008. And by that time Sony is rumored to be considering a price cut. If the PS3 were a car, it would be a Rolls Royce. But who really needs it? I prefer a fully loaded Honda, and that is what the PS2 is. In short, hold out for a while. You'll be glad you did.

i have a playstation 3. reasons NOT to buy it? well for one thing it is NOT backwards compatible as originally claimed. if you put a ps2 game into it, it will become a six hundred dollar ps2. most of the games that we were told would be released by now keep getting put back so their aren't that many games out yet. also, if you don't have an HDTV you aren't going to enjoy the full capacity it has for graphics. now i do love the machine, i wouldn't get rid of it. its a lot of fun and the games we have so far are most enjoyable. i'm just glad we kept ahold of our ps2 console because we still like a lot of those titles as well and there are still several games up and coming for it. i hope this helps you decide.
