Korean War - Early 50's supported by China
Vietnam War - Late 60's supported by Soviet Union

Korean War- Generally large military units in pitched land battles
Vietnam War - Smaller units in jungle warfare

Korean War - Plenty of Public support
Vietnam War - Some public support, but lots of protests.

Korean War - Technically still ongoing
Vietnam War - Ended when America shamefully quit.

Korean War - Led by Mcarthur
Vietnam War - Led by idiots

Korean War - Truman/Eisenhower president
Vietnam War - Johnson/Nixon president

About the only thing similar between the two is that we were fighting communist asians in both wars.

Simply....Korea was a conventional war where all the comabatants wore uniforms for their specific side. Vietnam was different as the Viet Cong guerrilla combatants did not wear a uniform in the traditional sense. That are some differences. Similarities are 2. Rule one, People die, Rule 2, youcannot change Rule 1.

Both Korea and Nam was classified as police actions. Korea was lead by General MacArthur whom was sent by President Truman in 1950 I think. MacArthur had pushed the North Koreans up to the Chinese boarder. MacArthur wanted to go after the North Koreans in China but Truman fired him for wanting to do that. Then they lost all the ground that they had won back down to the 38th parallel. The United States was in Nam in the late 50's and though the J.F.K we there as advisers. Nam was ran by polaticans in D.C. whom did not go over there to see what was going on. Robert McNamara and President L.B.J. ran the first of Nam. The troops was sent over there to fight with their hands tied behind their backs. In other words they had get permission to shoot back from rear head quarters. Who had to get permission from those in D.C. Nam also lasted for ten years. When Nixon took over as President some things changed. When we started pulling out in '73 and after Nixon resign and Ford took over the Viet Cong invaded the South in '75. Carter did not want to go back.into Nam.thus we lost the war. We did win about 90% of the battles but we still lost the war. Now the Democrats want to the same thing in Iraq. They want to take over the operations from the generals and the President.

First, neither was classified as a war but rather a conflict as war was never declared in either case.

Second, I think your teacher had in mind that you do a little reading and research, so that if you get an F you won't be able to blame the people on yahoo answers.

Korea-UN coalition effort, had more pr support than Vietnam, used post ww2 weaponry, MacArthur played a big role and ultimately ended the war thanks to his assault at Inchon, first conflict when us and Chinese forces engaged each other.

Vietnam-pr was bad, age of the pathetic wussies anti American hippies (who are going to burn in hell I might add) more of a support action, red tape was everywhere, viet Cong were communist supporters that lived in south Vietnam, it was a war of communism versus capitalism.
