Depends on what you are looking for?
Name brand at so-so prices: MBK Center or Mah Boon Khram Center, cost about 50 baht round trip by skytrain, your hotel is about 5-10 minute walk to the station and up the stairs. Find the ticket machine, you will be at Nana Station and you want to go to the National Stadium, you have to make one transfer at, I believe, Siam Station.
Name brand at US or European prices, go on the skybridge from MBK to the Siam Centers, Discovery, Paragon, etc.
About 2-3 blocks away is Platinum Mall, 8 stories of shopping, jeans are in the basement, and each floor carries a different type of clothing. The food court on 8th floor is not bad and very reasonable. You will have to take a taxi or a long walk. Watch out Platinum and Pratunam sound the same and you will be in the Pratunam area of Bangkok. Taxi about 50 baht or so. You can take a taxi back maybe another 50-75 baht, about 30 minute to 45 minute ride.
The chatuchak or jatuchak market is only on Saturdays and Sundays, this flea market is off the subway or MRT. Lots of bargains. I have never been to it since I have better things to do before I leave than walk around in the sun shopping. LOL From your hotel take the skytrain to Asoke station, only one station go down the escalator and at the base is another escalator to the subway. 14 baht for the skytrain and maybe 35 baht one way for the Subway. Exit at the Chatuchak station
The below websites lists all the shopping areas:
http://www.bangkok.com/shopping/index.html
It has a description and direction to all of the places.
Good luck and enjoy

MBK it won't cost anything unless you buy something except you do have to pay 1 baht to use the toilet.
OH or you can take the skytrain it will cost about 35 baht or so? not sure where Grand Suk hotel is! The stop is National Staduim on the Silom line. Change at Siam station.
