yeah, let`s think logically....for instance, humans evolved from monkeys!! Every effort to explain existence in a so-called "logical" matter seems to be crumbling. Certain scientists have even admitted that there must be an "exterior force or being" that caused certain things to be in existence. Lets take another look at logic.....it is written in the Bible that Jesus said there will come great times of trouble, wars, earthquakes, fearful sights, it`s happening. What do you call that, a coincidence?? Maybe it`s not religious persons that need to start thinking logically. Maybe if you open your eyes to what`s around you you`ll realise that you really have no other answers around you that explain what`s happening in a "logical" matter. If you like....i advise that you search for a new apostolic website or any other religious website that explains the history of religion well, maybe then you`ll begin to understand a bit more about these things. Just for the record...to all those who felt the need to hurl insults to prove a point....we need to rethink our tactics, no matter how strongly we feel about something.

Christ did not go through all of that torture to punish sinners. He went through it so He could die on the cross as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. John 3:16 And God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth on Him would no perish but have everlasting life.
1 John 4:8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

In all of his perfect omnipotence, surely this God-being could find another way of saving us all. Threats, bribery and human sacrifice? How enlightened.
The free will argument is a cop-out too. Buddhism very definitely allows for free will, but has quite different conclusions re salvation.
The Buddha, who was just a man, in his compassion refuses to abandon even a single individual. There are disagreements as the mechanics of it, but the ideal is there throughout all of Buddhism. Compassion is key, not damnation.

You should try reading all the Bible before you comment. You would find that one of the things the Bible teaches us is not to judge others. If we all only took that one thing on board the world would be a better place to live in.
God/Jesus gave us one of the greatest gifts anyone can give and that is the freedom to choose between good and bad.

I'm still struggling with the fact that if you are bad, evil or immoral in this lifetime you will burn in the fiery pits of Hell for all eternity. Now eternity is a long long time. A long time. So if I covet my neighours wife, that's nothing, NOTHING compared to the punishment I will receive for it.
The time between the dinosaurs being wiped out and now is but a blink of an eye compared to the punishment for enjoying the view of the neighbours' wife's' ****? Hmmm. Shouldn't the punishment fit the crime?

Montgome... Respect the believes of others. I respect yours.
However the last word in religion is yet to be revealed to those that inquire.
Pure logic has not not explained how was the universe and its inhabitants created, and the purpose of all things.
The existence of a soul, life after death, love, sacrifice, spiritual evolution, the need for love, kindness, justice and the need for detachment from the slavery of materialism and selfishness.
There are people who believe in the harmony of science and religion. Open this door please...

The thing is, He didn't want to punish sinners. He wanted to create a get out of jail clause and the way He chose was to die for us (you're still not grasping that to evangelical Christians, Jesus and God are the same being). The perfect for the imperfect.
When you're god, you can do it your way.

When it is said that God is all powerful, but that does not mean that God has the power to go against His own nature. God for instance can not lie (Titus 1:2). Therefore because of God's perfect sense of justice, He could not merely wave His hand and make sin go away. God sense of justice demands that the wages of sin is death, and nothing could change this.

You must remember that the event was covered by man, and the words that were written were by man, since when can we trust man to get things right, and those words were not written until some years later, do you really think they got it all right, I'm not saying that it did not happen, but thing about it

That story was written to encourage anyone who knew that their loved ones were firmly against any of the wickedness that the powers that be were committing at the time.
It was a way to give comfort to families when their children were murdered by the 'Powers that be'
AND IT'S STILL WORKING TODAY!...Amazing.
