I'm glad you took the time to finish what you started and earned your degree. As someone else said, you can always use this to your advantage later on in a resume if you need it. My advice is to go with what makes you happy. I'm guessing you'd earn more money pursuing a career in the field for which you earned your degree, but money means nothing if you aren't happy and satisfied. I worked for 18 years at a job I hated but the money was good. After I had enough of the stress, I quit, found a job making about half the money, but I finally found peace, happiness, and satisfaction in my life. Do it now before you invest too much time in your current job. The longer you stay, the harder it will be to leave and the more time you wasted when you could have been doing what you really want to do. Go for it. I wish you tons of success!!

A great job is doing what you love. If things don't work out as a stylist, you will still be able to go back to the old career. Good luck!

It's not a bad idea at all. A job is somewhere you'll have to get up to go to EVERYDAY and thus you want to make sure you are absolutely happy doing it. A lot of people change careers after going to school. The job market is tough. I find the hardest thing to do is to balance what you love to do and what gives you money.

I don't think so. If you can do something you love AND get paid, all the better!
Besides, you already have the degree, so it's not like going back to work in a hair salon will make you "lose" your degree---you've always got it to fall back on.
Also, since you have prior experience AND a degree, you should be able to negotiate a higher salary or pay.

i think u should follow your heart...who wants to be stuck in a job they don`t like??? i`ve changed my career path many times thru the years & i`ve never been disappointed!!! i also have previously worked in a salon...the atmosphere was wonderful!!! so i can completely understand why u would want to be in that type of job...if it doesn`t work out, at least you`ve already completed your school, so if need be u can go back to what you`re doing now...but you`ll never know unless u give it a shot!!! good luck!!!

I think you should do whatever makes you happy. Even though you spent quite some time in school studying for another career, what is another year or so? Would you rather waste time by doing something you hate for the rest of your life? Life is too short. Take the chance for something you love to do.

No, never a bad idea if you hate doing whast you are doing. Always go after what will make you happiest working, then it will become a career. You will enjoy being paid for what you love doing. Money should never be an issue, whether you are a trash hauler, ditch digger or executive. Always try to do what would please you.

Nope, it's a great idea actually.
You spend many hours at work, it's more than the time you spend with your lover, family or children. Therefore loving your job is much more important then salary, compensation etc.
Go ahead. Congratulations
