Yes, it is a very good idea to send a thank you note to the immediate family, extended family and friends. It is a very, very thoughtful thing to do and it makes the recipient feel great also. Make sure the thank yous are not electronic cards as this is so in-personable.

Most definitely. Actually, those are usually the people I send them to (because usually it's family that buys or does things for us). I try to send anyone a thank you note regardless of who they are to show how appreciative we are.

I'm pretty sure there is no guidelines on who should and should not get a thank you card. If you would say thank you in person, why not send them a card. However, you should just send 1 card per household
