because they say what the people like to hear even if it's a lie.
2 Timothy 4:3.......... For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled;

It's to ease the family's pain. But in some cases that is a lie. Most funerals I've been to like that the preacher just says we can rest assured that they are in the hands of a just God.
That is a easy way of saying they could have gone to hell.
Because of God's just judgment he makes the decision and an unsaved person will go to hell. But you don't need to tell the family that at that moment.
But they don't need to say for an unsaved person that they are going to heaven for sure because many other unsaved need to hear the truth or don't say anything at all. This could make them think that the dead persons lifestyle was god enough to get them into heaven.

Why would a person with a disease that caused terrible depression be called bad?
In case you haven't heard, addiction is not a moral question, but a disease. Suicide is a result of that disease, just as is death resulting from a heart attack a possible result of high cholesterol.
People are so ignorant about addictions, and their continual desire to prove it a moral issue is one of the largest contributors to the prevention of recovery in many people.
If you want to point the finger at true evil, why not point it where it belongs? How about hatred, bigotry, murder, abuse and such? Nope, instead, you point it at people suffering from disease. Wonderful people these sometimes are.

I haven't been to many funerals. But at that point, what good would it do to tell the deceased friends and family that their loved one is now roasting in the fiery pits of hell? Not much I'm afraid. The time for witnessing should have been when the person was alive. The funeral is for the living, to allow them to grieve and mourn the passing of the lost, not to think about where the lost is spending eternity.

No one really knows what passes between a person and the Holy Spirit at the moment of death ... nor the true state of mind of a suicide. And so, at memorial services, they are given the benefit of the doubt on this end without judgment. Their soul's destination isn't our call to make.

Gigga,
A number of the preachers are speaking for the family who do not need to hear such a thing. There are other preachers who do tell the truth rather than "sugar coat it". They intend to reach out to whoever is there and open to the LORD at that time. I have also been to one of those burials. It was quite different, and rather a bit longer. Have a wonderful day and a glorious week.
Thanks,

Because they don't give memorials to people who were horrible. Usually people like that had no friends, no family to speak of, no support of any kind. They are simply buried without much ado.
Besides, a memorial is not for the person gone, it's for the family of those left behind. No matter the problems of the dead person in their life, they were loved by someone (obviously, if there are people in the audience) and those people want to soothe themselves with precious memories of their lost loved one.

I don't know why i feel attracted towards the mysterious & strange things. I feel a sense of fascination towards ' Egypt ', the Pyramids, the Sphinx ,the old civilisations, the lost world of Atlantis, the Bermuda triangle, the
Titanic, the Dinosaurs, the mystery books full of adventures.
The more old, ancient & mysterious the thing is the more i am
attracted towards it. Reading more about these things gives me strange pleasure. I just want to know more & more about
these things.

First, because it is not for us to judge.
I have been to memorials and wakes of some pretty colorful characters, mostly the conversation was pretty honest. Didn't hear any fabrication about who these folks were or how they lived their life.

Because memorials are for the living - to give comfort, and religions wouldn't get much in the collection plate if they kept telling people "your loved one is burning in hell."
