People sentenced to prison should perhaps have the chance or opportunity to get their sentence reduced in return for some good service to the community. Organ donation after death might perhaps be worth a reduction in sentence. What do you think? Registration for organ donation would, of course, have to be irrevocable if the prison sentence is reduced.

No. In order to be service, it needs to be something that is ongoing while the person is still living, not after they are dead.

The Purpose of a jail sentence is often coupled with comunity service. This is a criminal's way of re-paying society for the crimes they have committed as well as the tax-payers having to pay for his or her incarsaration.
Community service, or volunteering is rewarded with peace of mind and a feeling of achevement. People who are looking for a hard and solid reward are not doing it for the right reasons.
Also, Organ donation is also a way to for people to help others, not themselves. I'm personally an organ doner Not for any other reason but to help someone in need. Everyone should want to do this, and for me it was as simple as telling the lady at the DMV and it is put on your drivers licence.

Hmm...no I don't think this is enough. Lots of criminals will sign up for the program just to get the reduced sentence, and then ruin their lungs with smoke and kill their livers with alcohol.

How about blood donation, bone marrow donation, or lung/kidney donation while they are still alive? I think that is far more meaningful because it's something they have to think about in the here and now, not after death.

Absolutely not. If any absolution or mercy or forgivness is given, it should come from Allah, not man. If a man commits a crime, regardless of what he does inside or once he gets out, I still think he should be required to pay for his crime. For example, if a man murdered someone, you think his sentence should be reduced because he agrees to organ donation? He can still commit crimes with one kidney for example. If he is dead, his organs will still save a life, but his is over so it really makes no difference does it?

Naaah! More better to get them to donate their organs in return for instant death, rather than having to remain for the next thirty or forty years in a prison cell at our expense.

Guarantee them a nice (cheap) funeral, and a few good words at the service in return for both their kidneys, their liver, lungs, heart, eyeballs, and whatever else.

If they are petty criminals who have been rehabilitated and dont pose a serious threat to society then maybe yes. but i think ppl would challenge it on the grounds that it is biased against certain religions and cultures. sitting in prison might tax society but it keeps people safe.

quite a noble thought, though i doubt if you take an organ away, a criminal is going to be any less of a criminal, unless you take away his brain.

i think you have some serious mental issues. why not just let them go work at state parks - if they try to run we can always shoot them and then they will have no choice but to give up those precious little kidneys.
