Like changes in perception. anxiety etc....

Ever since I got into serious surfing I've been having these kinds of problems......

Yes, it can affect the mind. My suggestion: Try to tighten the back muscles, then relax them, all of the time mentally telling those muscles to relax and concentrate on relaxing them. Do this many times and each time they seem to lessen in tightness a little more. Move the arms/sholders, relaxing those muscles a little more each time. Do some bending forward, making the muscles taunt, then relaxing the muscles. This is cheaper than paying someone to do it for you. This has helped me for many years.

Yes I have been through the roller coaster. In hindsight, when you have tension the mind panics and runs through a list of scenarios from Arthritis to Cancer. That then leads to perception changes or the 'what if scenarios'. You need to learn to relax, teach yourself some good techniques after you surf and just remember all you can do is your best.

spinal tension can affect your entire body processes, including you're thinking. you need to see a medical doctor or chiropractor and have this back problem examined. There is no other solution.
