You can ask any one anything you want really. You likely already know what to expect from the recipient, if you have known her a while. She may get turned on as well as laugh. Big points. OR-She may puke on you and never carry your books at school again.
Saying it to a stranger- well, that's a shot in the dark. You dang well better be a drop dead, Dr. Dreamy hot hunk if you expect a positive response. OR know how to duck n run.
My guess is you should/would do it over the Internet, phone or text MSG.
