Calcium deficiency, either too much calcium or too little. i suffer from that, i used to drink 6-8 pints a day. i love milk

A small white spot that shows no raising or different texture is the sign of an old mild injury to the nailbed.
A white patch that is raised and has some sort of texture is usually fungus infection within the nail.

I've heard it can be a lack of calcium deficiency or if you have knocked or damaged them also leaves white marks until the nail grows out.

Apparently it's an indicator of a lack of important vitamins and minerals in your system...The nails are dead cells so they are sort of a picture of what has been going on in your system the weeks prior to the growth.

Those are areas where you've hit or put pressure on your nail. It is the equivalent of a bruise on your skin. It's no big deal, they just grow out with the nail.
