some Hindu become angry when Muslims eat cows in India. The burning of Temple and Masjid, has led to some tensions. The British when they occupied India, divided among racial and religious lines in a bid to exploit, some animosity still exists. The British when they occupied would redraw maps on a whim, with no regard, as all people not white were considered savage at the time, and in need of schooling ie. " white man burden "
Though I don't live in India, British did the same thing in my country until we fought them off.

Well you have the conflict between India and Pakistan as an example. Remember that Pakistan is just a state created by dividing India into a part for the dominantly Hindus and the dominantly Muslim. There was a big exodus of both Hindus and Muslims afraid to get entangled in the crossfighting between the established India and the new born Pakistan. Hence till now they have problems regarding the Kashmir region wherein the population has a Hindu ruler and a majority Muslim population. Try Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children it delves a bit into it.

Misunderstanding.
Muslims and Hindus approach God from two very different perspectives. Muslims do not use images, forms, or any other kind of symbolism to represent God. Hindus use all kinds.
The major conflict truly, though, began with rulers who were Muslim in India who not only misunderstood this, but felt the need to convert, by force, the population. While there are leaders that did not do this and there were Muslims who strove to understand the Hindus approach and to live harmoniously, there were leaders who felt compelled to end Hinduism. Of course due to their own misunderstandings abotu Hinduism they failed to do this, of course.
So this is what led to the major conflicts. It is these same misunderstandings in certain regions that have continued conflicts.
In fact as a Hindu I'd say that Hinduism has got to be one of the most misunderstood religions in the world. Christians, Muslims, etc often spread misinformation from their own misunderstanding of Hinduism. This, of course, leads to conflict rather than harmony.
Peace be with you.

The arrival of the muslims. The muslims are a proselytizing people, who believe that the sword is the best way to introduce people to the love that is their god.
