Global warming is a farce. It is not right. THis planet has cycles, and we are in one, and we can't stop a cycle that God put in motion. The planet has gone through this before. All of the data that they use is easily manipulateable. The worst is these temperature readings they get that say it is 5 degrees warmer than it was 20 years ago. Well if you take a measurement in a city 20 years ago that has 30,000 citizens and not a lot of roads or large buildings, and then 20 years later take a temperature in the same city that now has 200,000 people, highrise buildings, roads, highways and interstates, of course it will be hotter all of that concrete holds in heat. Why do you think it is cooler in the country or the suburbs that it is in the city? It is called the HUMAN EFFECT. We get the data we want because we are looking for exactly that and nothing else, never mind the 5 things we found that contradict our hypothesis, lets concentrate on the one thing we found that sort of backs it up.
They want to tell us that all of the glaciers are melting right, that the poles are melting away and the glaciers are going to melt, and were all going to have to live on mountains not to drown right? DO you know how many glaciers there are on earth? Over 115,000 of them. Do you konw how many are actively monitored? Around 500. Do you know how many of those are actually receding? About 100. I don't think that less than one percent of total glaciers receding is cause for concern, not when that is only 20% of the ones they actually monitor, especially not since they are MOVING chunks of ice, the faster they move the faster they melt, its called friction. On top of that as they move into warmer areas and lower elevations, it gets warmer, so of course they are going to melt. Then to top it off do you ever hear about the glaciers that are growing (by the way growing glaciers accounted for over 175 of those monitored, which means more of them are growing than are shrinking). Bet you didn't hear about the one in greenland that grows over 100 feet a day? It is moving fast enough and growing fast enough that you can actually hear it creaking.
The bottom line is that scientist are funded by others, and if they don't find something that supports their theory, they will lose their funding, and if they lose their funding, then they are out of a job. So of course they are going to find something to support their theory, its self preservation.
If the TRUE data is to be believed we are closer to entering another ice age, than we are to having everything melt.

Global Warming and cooling is a cyclical cycle. There is nothing YOU can do to stop it anymore than you can change the rotation of the earth.
In the 70's scientists were predicting the next ice age, now it's global warming.
Man is only responsible for 2-3% of the CO2 released into the atmosphere. The other 97-98% comes from nature itself. So if you want to reduce the amount of CO2 you would have to destroy all of the oceans and other elements of nature.
Stop believing this political nonsense.
Mr. Gore spends nearly $30,000 to heat and cool his mansion and pool home. How concerned can he really be about the environment?

Why would you want to? I'm looking forward to warmer winters and wetter summers, so less drought. Last time Australia was 2 degrees warmer we had a fresh-water inland sea, and the outback swarmed with mega-fauna - that's got to be better that the desert we have now.
People will be able to sail from the Pacific to the Atlantic via the Arctic - that will save heaps in transport charges and time.
Unfortunately I think the science around global warming is so shonky that this good thing is unlikely to actually happen. Up till the early 1980's these same Scientists were warning us of a coming Ice Age, and that the Population would be about 20 Billion by now. They never get it right.

In Canada we have a national newsmagazine called MacLeans. In the May 14 edition is a two-page article with a list of potential solutions I've never seen before. It's worth seeking out.
Here are some of the more well-known solutions
http://www.stuffintheair.com/solutions-for-global-warming.html
And a list of descriptions why global warming is such a hot issue.

We can of course do many things to stop global warming.I am sure you've heard about thre three R's.That is Reduce, reuce and Recycle.
What eveyone of us can do is releatively very very simple like to not use or to reduce the usage of plastics, And to also limit the use of papers, and to reuse things.
If you want to know more information, you can go to this webpage; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming

Sad but true: Normal people like you and me can´t do anything, because the rich people and presidents won´t change anything. They only think in their life and the world will destroy us little by little. There is only one chance: If we all, I repeat, if we all don´t use or buy stuff, cars, gasoline etc, maybe we can change something, but many people won´t do it, so, this or the next generation will still live, but in max. 200 years our lovely "blue" planet will look like Mars. You will remember my words. We have still a chance, but if we don´t act right now, we better make our testaments. I hope everybody gets the message. See you in heaven, we are already in hell.

(Before my English makes you doubt, I'm a Russian)
I was before as you now are. I was believing environmentalists opinion on various matters including global warming. So was I until hydrogen fuel campaign. As partly scientific guy, I understood right away what stupidity it is. The matter is well described here: http://www.fromthewilderness.com/free/ww3/081803_hydrogen_answers.html.
As a consecuence I began to doubt of other things environmentalists propose. Global warming is the most important of them, and I began to educate self little by little. And I came to a conclusion, that global warming fighting campaign is another great stupidity. Now it seems to me, that environmentalists and scientists are two different kinds of people. It looks like environmentalism is something like a new religion.
Think about the following:
1) We are not able to measure global warming precisely. May be it is much weaker, than we think. Try to imagine how it's hard to precisely measure mean global temperature. Think about how mean global temperature was measured e.g. in 1905. To get more information on difficulies in measuring global temperature you may visit these links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite_temperature_measurements
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumental_temperature_record
They mention most difficultys, though also say that the difficultys are not such important. May be it is so, may be not.
2) If it's as strong as the majority believe, we are very doubtful about it's reasons. It can be caused by Sun activity changes for example. Don't you know that Mars and many other Solar system planets and satellites now also experience global warming? May be Earth and Mars global warmings have a common reason. Obviously, we cannot cause global warming on Mars.
There were many global warmings and global coolings even before mankind appeared. In general, warm periods were better for life on our planet.
3) Even if we are the main reason, may be global warming is good, may be we are saving our beloved Earth from the next ice age. Think about Greenland, in what condition it is now, and why several hundreds of years before it was called by such name.
Don't you know that CO2 concentration was continuously decreasing, during last several hundreds of millions of years (except the very last several millions of years). Plants use atmospheric CO2 to produce their biomass. The more CO2 in the atmosphere the more effective photosynthesis is, the faster everything green grows. Recent researches show, that 2 times CO2 concentration increase would improve agricultural plants efficiency by 30%. By the way, such experiments are quite easy and reliable, unlike mean global temperature measuring.
May be you just thought about what happens if CO2 concentration decreases too much. There is certain limit, which most plants cannot survive. The Earth have already suffered such disaster. Huge areas undergo desertification in this case.
4) During hundreds of millions of years, carbon was being withdrawn little by little from the constant flow of life, forming deposits of oil, coal and gas. And carbon is the most important element for life on our planet. Finally mankind appeared and began to return carbon into the life cycle. May be it isn't bad. I'd like our planet to be full of vegetation, what about you?
5) Don't forget about those, who hope for global warming. In particular we in Russia hope, but sadly it not comes. Temperature rise would make us spending less energy for heating, thereby saving natural resources.
6) Think twice before spending money (for e.g. solar cells), when they are trying to convince you. Expensive things production tend to be very power consuming (CO2 emission), or polluting, or wasteful relative to limited natural resources.
7) Don't confuse global warming with the ozone problem. They are almost not related. Don't impute various negative consequences of our industrial, agricultural and other activities to global warming.
8) Global warming fighters are always speaking about several meters of ocean level rise in the case of e.g. Greenland ice completely melts, but they forget to add, that in the worst case 1000 years needed for this process. As far as I know ( http://elementy.ru/lib/430449 it is in Russian), we could experience at maximum 88 cm ocean level rise in next 100 years. It seems, that it much easier to fight 88 cm ocean level rise than to fight global warming.
If you wish to do something good for the environment (I hope most of us do), following 3R is a good idea. In general, if something saves your money and they say it is good for the environment, most likely it is so.
