It is normal for children that age to give unusual answers like that. Take a cue from authors and songwriters for children -- create a rhyme or a short, fun song to help him remember. He'll remember what you teach him and appreciate the time you took as he gets older and recalls the funny song.

Kids are very clever. Teach him the simple way. Ask him his name, when he give his age, tell him 'no, your name is ....'. Do also the same thing with his age. Gradually he will remember.

you can always make a song out of learning his name and age. My daughter is 2 years old and she knows her name, age and birth day.

At this age he should know his full name, your full name and his dad's full name. He should know his address, too, and he should know how to call 911 on the phone. I think he's just playing with you. At the very least he should be able to parrot what you say. Repetition is the best teacher. If you have a photo album that might be helpful, too. Just do this casually and don't push him. Do it often, though.

my daughter has known her name ange age since she was 3 at first i had to say it over and over to get her to say her name but now as soon as you ask her she answers as well as telling you my name and her dads (great if she gets lost).
i think he's testing you as when you ask him his age he tell you his name rather then the thinng you asked just explain that no thats your age and next time he does it dont pay him any attention

If his names has meaning as same as Saint or someone famuse - you would tell him a lovely story about it. He will remember better. And tell him you love his name so much. I hope it could help. good luck.

he should already, he's playing with you surely, dont ask him get others to and see what happens. i think you might find because he gets a responds from you he keeps doing it. if this isnt the cause take him to doc and get him checked.

hes testing you.
this has been ongoing thing hasn't it?
think about it...
I'm sure he has...... thats why he's doing it.
Its normal.
if it bothers you and you dont want him to do it laugh when you tell him the right way and ignore him when he's wrong.
its all about attention and reaction
