Its my moms name and she says it like "ev ah lin" BUT
she used to work with a Scottish lady who called her "e-ver-lin" and yet another woman who was British I believe that pronounced it 'eff-lin' almost 'if-lin' but not quite. So I guess it just depends on who is saying it with what accent. Did you know that originally it was a mans name?

Sorry but it come with the territory. Your mom/parents gave you a different name and others cannot spell it or pronounce it correctly. I think it is what parents fail to recognize. They are setting their kids up for a lifetime of frustration of others not 'getting it" right when they name their kids a unusual name. I think you need to either allow folks to call you a nick name which is a derivative of your name, answer to whatever it is they do call you, or continue to correct them when they mispronounce your name. I don't think most are deliberately trying to disrespect you. After all, they consider you a friend, and invited you over to be in your presence Do tell the folks you are meeting for the first time the correct pronounciation, they may be one or those who cam grasp it correctly.

Ev-ah-lynn
Edit: Sorry, the middle pronunciation comes from me being southern, lol. So it depends on where you live how you pronounce it.

I say it broken up into three syllables: Ev-el-yn. Said exactly how it is spelled. No R's or F's in there.

"If-lin" is more commonly heard.
Very rarely, people would pronounce the latter.
