Because reading some of the answers I get the idea that some people think ALL disease, illness, death, stubbing your big toe, and who knows what else is all down to Original Sin. In short, any and all human suffering and misery is down to that one transgression.
Now, two questions for those people:
a) does that seem fair and balanced to you, as a punishment?
b) wasn't death a part of life already, as God kicked them out lest they also eat from the tree of life (implying that was also not in his plan)?

The concept of original sin is itself evil.
In fact, the concept variously attributed to Augustine of Hippo, or Paul of Tarsus is arguably one of the most evil fictions to ever be created.
WWJT? What would Jesus Think?
===========================
Jesus founded the Nazarenes.
http://one-faith-of-god.org/new_testament/apocrypha/nazarenes/nazarenes_0010.htm
I think jesus would be horrified that such a concept has been allowed to be sustained for so long.
Cartainly, it has no historical basis in Jewish literature. It is and remains solely a fear mechanism to keep people in line.
Jesus would probably hope that people who claim to follow him awaken from their slumber and see the truth.

Free will opens the door for a lot of evil. But what is the good thing that we can learn from these things recorded in the Bible. We have a lot more useful data on things than Adam and Eve had. Even them, they lived a long and nice life. And now they are with God.
Death was an option. It was God's plan to give us a choice. We make mistakes, but we can learn from them and still be reunited with God in the end even when we have been messing up. Is not that great? : )

Thought you had been scared off or gotten baptized !
There is a page about the ransom here: It would bore you.
http://bythebible.page.tl/Ransom.htm
A: It wasn't a question of fairness. It was a question of condition, the human condition, of property so to say.
If me and my wife live in Iceland and have two tickets to say New York, but I go gambling and lose the tickets, will we go to New York? If we are too poor to buy new tickets, where will our children be born? New York or Iceland?
Psalm 49:8: So costly, is the redemption of their soul, That it faileth unto times age-abiding (Rotherham)
Thus when Adam lost perfection for mankind, sin which is lawlessness was introduced through him to his offspring. You may view sin as the origin of all illness and death.
B. Adam was told that he would die if and ONLY if he disobeyed. Thus he would not have died and grown old if he had not sinned.
Romans 5:12For this cause , even as by one man sin entered into the world, and by sin death; and thus death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Darby)
The reason Christ needed to die to redeem us from this sin is as follows: Under the Law Covenant, a thief found out who had stolen another's sheep would have to at least replace the stolen one with a similar equivalent fit animal to the victim.
This tooth for tooth principle is one of God's universal laws. It is not a matter of self-justice, it was the way the legal system, the divine court works.
Thus when Adam lost his perfect human life, God needed someone to pay a similar perfect human life for us so as to be able to adopt us as his children. This is the way the ransom works, those who have faith, exercise faith, become adopted as Christ's children, and as God's children.
This is also why Christ had to be unmarried and a virgin while on earth.

Well I can list the damage and harm that the doctrine of "the original sin" does to the mind.
The doctrine of original sin basically states that we are all born imperfect -- that we are by nature dirty and sick creatures, who are incapable of being "good" in our natural state. Our best-laid plans will go to waste, and all our good intentions will turn to rot and dust. In essence, you are telling a someone that they are born worthless. There is, however, a way for them to 'redeem' themselves and become something 'good' -- by accepting the additional guilt that Jesus was mutilated and killed because they are only human, because they (like all humans) have strengths and weaknesses, good points and bad points. But instead of accepting this -- that humans are naturally both good and bad -- it is emphasized that all humans are bad and will never amount to anything unless they have an innocent man suffer for them. I cannot see this as anything but psychologically and emotionally damaging.

What was Adam's profession? What did he do for living?
Nothing!!! All day running around a garden with Eve, naked, free as birds, having sex , playing mind(what??) games with snakes and eating apples to keep fit.
And I ask:
Is THIS the way WE are living????
Well, THAT's the damage.
After THEIR sin, nothing is the same for US.
I am furious. And all that because of an apple.!!!
I protest!!!

Ask the Pope or the Priest because that is their belief. They are teaching that there is original sin but it is not biblical. There is no such original sin in the bible.
Was the sin committed by your father or mother will be your sin? Remember that sin could not be inherited. You will inherit the riches of your parents bu not their sins which they have committed.

I don't know what goes inside of God's mind.
If the original sin concept is fictional, if God is fictional, then I think we're victims of the brainwashing of the chruch, and we should blame them for all the mental abuse they caused us all those years.
By the way, I heard Islam rejects the concept of Original Sin.
One good thing about Islam.
The guy below me, is really sick. What kind of argument is this?

The original sin thing is absurd. It's like saying mankind is doomed for all eternity just because someone ate an apple.
And little babies go to hell for that? Yeah right.

How come nobody has bumped into that angel with the flaming sword standing at the gate yet?
The story fails in so many ways but people still believe. I will never understand that part about people.
