It depends on which angle you look at this from.

There are communities who still consider themselves Jewish yet have converted their beliefs to follow Jesus: http://jewsforjesus.org

However:

From the Jewish point there is no way that a person could believe in Jesus without breaking some of the basic laws of Judaism itself.

He doesn't exist as a figurehead, son of God or messiah to the Jewish nation, because beliefs are based on the Old Testament.

Another thing to note is that in Jewish culture, regardless of how far astray or unreligious a person becomes: Once you are Jewish, you stay Jewish until the day you pass on.

Hope this helps!

Yes, there are jews that convert to Christianity but they are still considered jewish as long as they were born to a jewish mother. In addition, Judaism doesn't believe that Jesus Christ was the son of god. We believe he was a regular Jewish man born to a man and woman.

I believe that Zola Leavitt was born Jewish and converted. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he was also part of a Messianic Jewish Congregation. In spite of what some others have posted above me there are quite a number of Jewish congregations who accept the fact that the Messiah has come but continue in a traditional Jewish type of worship.

Yes, I have. Back in the 1970's, there was a group called Jews for Jesus which may still be in operation. They used to hang out in the gay neighborhood in San Francisco and try to convert gay Jews.

A lot of Jews convert because they fall in love with a gentile. One wonders whether they were practicing Jews before that, but who knows? Love is a very powerful force.

Almost all of the followers of Jesus in the Bible were Jewish Christians.

My father's family sort of did that. See they got to Australia and pretty much were hiding that they were Jewish and that they were 'unAustralian' for many many years. In those years they had more of a Christian upbringing then anything else.

At my local synagogue its quite progressive and there are many people who were born Jewish but have some Christian beliefs, there's quite a mix there.

It varies a lot mainly because most people are only jews because 'they were born Jewish'

Oh yes. Of course. Jews for Judaism and Messianic Jews are the major groups, as a previous poster mentioned. However, there are some points of dissention.

The Jews long ago stopped paying serious attention to God's word. They compiled an enormous collection of man-made laws, ideas, and practices known as the Talmud. This is their Bible, the work of human hands. They worship those laws, and have completely lost sight of God and His prophets, along with the promise given to Abraham and the realities of the covenants, which their ancestors nullified long ago.

Bob Dylan is no longer a born-again Christian. He just tried that on like a new suit and it didn't quite fit him.

Robert Zimmerman, I mean Bob Dylan, (at least he put a whole album out about his beliefs.)
