I went to an assemblies of God church for a few months. Now there's a group of lunatics.
They also love to "speak in tongues". That means they become 'possesed' with the Lord and speak in tongues.
The little old ladies fling themselves on the floor and you can see up their skirt, so they have special little 'shawls' for them when they are having convulsions due to 'possesion' from the Lord.

What's up with them shaking and rolling around on the floor with convulstions or becoming 'possesed' with the Lord?

The other day some guy from the church broke a chair in a "fit of joy" and it was perfectly OK.

Are they all on drugs? o_o

They are totally mis-lead.
Look at what the apostle Paul said.

(1 Corinthians 13:8) Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

Speaking in tongues no longer happens.

It was simply the God given ability to speak and listen in other language without any sort of formal training.

They are in ecstasy. As well ask why those crazy kids take a drug of the same name.

It's basically an adrenalin addiction. They get high off their own frenzy. Yes, it seems crazy to the outside observer, but can't you just say "OK, that's their way, and it's not my way" and move on?

I can also tell you this, it could only happen in America.. That is a saying we Aussies use about certain things as it certainly doesn't happen here, yet...They aren't on drugs I expect, but just extremely gullible people who are brainwashed into this Faerie Tale Religion...These same people call us Wiccan's, Devil worshippers and dispute our power.. They should take a very long look at themselves me thinks...
Love and Light... BB.. )O(

There's definitely a logical explanation. Probably a self-induced feeling of joy brought on by endorphins and based on expectation. Like a placebo.

Dang it. I just asked an almost identical question about Pentacostal, which are pretty much the same. THey are freaking crazy aren't they. I'm not sure if they can be considered Christian or not. They, like the Jehovah's Witnesses, take one or two verses and take them way, way out of context.

His name is Benny Hinn and they are called the pentecostals. I too attended the Assembly of God for awhile but quit because of the teachings. Here is more about it:
