i dont see why people are so confused about what the bible says. even if you DO read the king james translation, (which by the way, the dialect in king james is dead) its still relatively cut and dry. and if you dont get king james, try the simplified bible, or the new world translation. for gods sake people, wait, no for your own sakes, READ IT!

christianity as defined by major religions, i.e. catholocism, protestantism and the like, yeah they are cults. i dont follow that, i follow wat christ taught and therefore, i follow what the BIBLE teaches. i dont interperet, i read and apply. if its there in the bible, i take it as its written. you can interpret THAT all you want, but ive done my research, and im living the results. you can hate on it all you want, but the truth is there whether you take the time to read it for yourself or not.

What the asker is really saying is simply:
Don't make a fool of yourself by asking a stupid question. Learn a bit about the subject and then you can ask a serious question.

Good one ! Mech. The N.W.T. in modern english is very easy to read and comprehend.
no more thees and thous...
And it has replaced the personal name of Almighty God 7000 times.
For other readers, look up Psalm 83;18 in the 1611 King James.
Then ask yourself...why has religion taken Jehovah's name out of all the modern translations.
The original YHWH [ tetragrammaton/ four letters] is a personal name and not a title like God or lord.
And because there are no vowels and only consonants in YHWH, the pronunciation has been lost.
Jehovah is the closest English language word we can use to express YHWH in English.
Each world language has its own equivalent.
The point remains...It is a personal name and not a title.

Because not all of us take the Bible as authority to answer a question, for one thing. Also, not everyone even owns a Bible, or wants to. Besides, many questions are not about what it SAYS, but what it MEANS.

Still, there are search-able on-line Bibles if one wants to get the words of a particular quote, for example. You can even search different translations and see how they have altered a given passage.

Also, many of the questions about stories in the Bible are not about learning, they are about opinions. Frankly, many of them are mocking. Why don't those people read the Bible? Because they have no interest in it, really. They just want to be rude to those who take the Bible seriously.

ok so each and every individual can understand the bible by simply using the easiest version for them.........for one thing this idea of just reading and interpreting for yourself is unbiblical and why we see a multitude of denominations that broke of from the catholic church, the church that gave us the bible.

secondly, you need to be able to put the text in context for a full understanding, picking and choosing is unreliable and of no benefit. knowing something of the author and the reeligious truth the author wanted to portray is very important as is having an understanding of the culture of the time and for what audience each book was aimed at teaching. for example was the gospel of mathew intended for jewish christians/gentiles or others........was the book of kings intended for persecuted jews in babylon, egypt or other.......these are but some concepts the reader should become familiar with so don't try pass of the bible as an easily interpreted book when it isn't.

it's just another book. so I choose not to read it, or even ask religious questions. Religion is a very personal choice, and christianity is a cult.
