Ok, so I asked a Christian friend, "if a perfect and completely good god exists, why is there evil?".. he says it is because if there were no evil then man would not truly have free will because he would not have the option of acting in an evil way. If god took away all pain and cruelty then he would also have to take away free will.

Sounds ok, but how can a perfectly good being create evil in the first place? If god has even the capacity to fathom and appriciate the concept of evil, doesn't it suggest that god is in some way evil?

A perfectly good being cannot be partially evil.... what do you think?

The idea of a God is perfectly good but since man has written the bible in the logic of his, at that time, limited knowledge of the world has made God into a murderous, raping, and sadistic deity much like any King in our past history.

Actually I consider this a good question and I thank you for asking.
The answer is no. Now some people will be outraged by that because they feel God must be perfect in all things but actually good isn't one of them. This is because "good" and "evil" are a matter of personnel perspective. What is good to one person is not always good to another. If your lottery number wins that is good for you right? Is it good to everyone who lost? If a murderer is convicted it's good for everyone but the murderer. Good is different depending on who you are and what you want. Thats why no president is ever liked by everyone because while his decisions may be good to some people there bad to others.
So no God is not perfectly good. We hope he is perfectly Just. There is a difference.
Now to address the other part of your question. Why is there evil? Evil is also a matter of perspective but you might think death and pain are pretty absolute. If there is a heaven then death is a transition not an end so it is not bad just scary and different. Pain is a warning of death but if there is an afterlife then pain is to teach or warn so it's not bad. Pain and suffering could be lessons in this case. There is still evil but good could not be recognized without evil to contrast it. like how could you know darkness if you had never seen light?

God created humans and gave them free will. This "free will" is what leads to them having choices. Some people make right choices others dont. Some do good and others dont. In short, if God allowed "free will" he would have to allow any "evil" that results from it. Otherwise, it wouldnt be called "free will" in the first place. This logic applies to all the main religions not just Christianity. haha now people are going to riddle you with Biblical text hoping to convert you... d:D

Honestly...I don't get it either, haha.

Another thing I never really got: that God is supposedly the father, the son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus cannot be less than AND equal to God. It's irrational and implies incest.

Haha. :p

According to the Bible teachings I received in grade school, man created evil. But I was still confused. If God is perfectly good and God created man, shouldn't man be perfectly good, too? But...yeah. I'm still slightly confused.

God is perfectly good and perfectly bad. Good and evil are the 2 sides of the same coin.
God is beyond good and bad, right and wrong
All this kind of questions comes because we feel that he is a man.
No god is not a man.

Christians are always making excuses for their god. The idea that god made evil to give us free will is pretty lame. If I lived in a paradise with no evil I could still exercise free will to decide which of the infinite pleasures of paradise to indulge in.

Besides god can't be perfect, look at his work.

God created the entire universe for us. We humans are the most important creatures in the entire universe. 50,000,000,000 planets, just for us! How awesome is that! He created us perfect, God is nothing but love.

He made the universe, and created everything in it. All with pure love. A perfect creation.

Too bad that one human being and one apple could ruin all of that. Perfection ruined by an apple. It really is an amazing story.

It's even more amazing that a human being, with the same ability of rational thought as me, can believe in such a story.

Why does God allow evil men and women to live? Should He instead kill them before they do evil deeds? Should He judge murderers and rapists now? What about thieves and liars, adulterers, fornicators, those who lust, and those who hate? If God judged evil today, all unconverted men and women would perish under His wrath. Thank God that He is patiently waiting for them to turn to the Savior and be saved from His terrible wrath.

The Bible says that God is good and it is completely trustworthy, inspired by God using many different men to write it out with His message to us over many years. It is also historically accurate. Its message is consistant.
When God created Adam the first man, he chose to rebel against God and that is when sin entered the world. All of us born since are born with that sin nature.
If you really want to know this answer, ask God to help you to understand. He will reveal Himself to those who truly seek Him and believe His Word, the Bible.

In answer to your question the answer is yes God is perfectly good as his laws are perfect and no he is not evil in any way.

It is bad desires which begin to manifest sin.

James 1:13-15
When under trial, let no one say: “I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God cannot be tried nor does he himself try anyone. But each one is tried by being drawn out and enticed by his own desire. Then the desire, when it has become fertile, gives birth to sin; in turn, sin, when it has been accomplished, brings forth death.
