9/11 did that for the Muslims. It is a shame that more people do not know at least a little bit about Islam. They would realize that the terrorost attacks were not committed by real Muslims, but by extremists.

Well, it boils down to the trite phrase: "Most muslims aren't terrorists, but most terrorists ARE muslim." It's sad, but it's true. It leads many to the false conclusion that Muslim=terrorist.
From what I understand, in the (Kuran?) Koran or muslim faith murder IS a sin, but killing someone who'se trying to force you from God is a holy act. The problem lays with the fact that these terrorists are people being fooled by twisted people into thinking that "if you're not with us, your against us". Whereas the attitude of true Islam looks at the non-muslim as being kinda misled, and unfortunate, but NOT evil.

If moderate muslims don't want to be called terrorists they should be out in the streets protesting terrorism in every city in the world where there are a substantial amount of muslims. There were protests all over the world by muslims over a few cartoons in a Danish newspaper and some of them were violent. There were 130 christians in Nigeria who were murdered by violent muslim mobs. What did Nigerian christians have to do with cartoons in a Danish newspaper? Muslims can become violent over something in a newspaper or magazine that they don't like but when muslim terrorists are killing people all over the world, they just look the other way.
Are you afraid they are going to kill you? If the numbers are correct, there's only about 15% of muslims in the world who are hard core fundamentalists. That's only about 200,000. That leaves about 1.3 billion who aren't. In other words, 17 out every 20 are so-called moderates. They're not going to kill 1.3 billion moderates, which brings us back to the original question.....what are you afraid of? If 1.3 billion muslims got out in the streets and protested islamic terrorism, that would send a message to a lot of government officials all over the world. If the moderate muslim doesn't want to be stereotyped as a terrorist he must show the rest of the people in the world, in some kind of a dramatic way that will catch the attention of the newsmedia, that he is truly against terrorism. Otherwise the average person is going to think, "these so-called moderates don't want to get their hands dirty killing innocent people but in their hearts they really support the terrorists". To be absolutely fair, I must say that there have been some good signs lately in the form of large muslim protests against terrorism in Pakastan and Turkey. Let's hope that's an omen of good things to come.

They are because we are at war with them. Every war has to keep it's people focused on the "enemy". The enemy ALWAYS has to be demonized for the sake of the "support of the troops". It's been that way from the civil war mudslinging the South all the way to Hitler, and of course Saddam Husein. The media always has to use hot button words such as terrorists ,communists ,gorillas ,rebels , extremists ,militants , to make the public believe the crazies are after us. As long as there will be wars there will always be states propagating the people into supporting whatever venture that country pursues.

It's propaganda, love. It's a shame that so many people fall victim to those lies. It's propaganda in the same way that people think Satanists worship the devil and sacrifice things. They're actually just a group of individuals who hate all religious organizations except for Buddhism. They encourage indulgence, egotism and free thought. I'm not a Satanist, but my boyfriend is, that's why I know all of that. Don't believe the propaganda that you hear; whether it be concerning Muslims, Satanists, or any other group. Actually I think terrorist are stereotyped as Muslims. Only the most naive of people believe that every one of the billion plus followers of Allah has a bomb strapped to their naval. The trouble is that a good portion of the people with a bomb strapped on running into someone’s elementary school scream about their faith to Allah while their running. That tends to make people judgmental. It's not that we believe every Muslim is a terrorist. It's that the few who are terrorists look just like any other Muslim until they slaughter your family or cut your head off. Muslims need to help us tell them apart since they believe in peace they should want to.

I don't think you know anything about the Islamic Qur'an. Most muslims are not terrorists because most muslims are NOT PRACTISING true islam. The majority of muslims are just muslims in name. A true muslim follows the following, the rest are just muslims who go to mosques, saying hello every now and then and watching American Idol. Lucky for you, they won't turn terrorist unless you 'mistreat' them. Until then, the Qur'an will be collecting dust.

When a Muslim declares that Islam is a religion of peace, he/she is either ignorant of the Koran (Qur'an), or is deceitfully thinking of this "peace", as it extends only to those within the Muslim Community. The deceit is that they will not tell you exactly what they mean. According to the Qur'an: "Muhammad is the Apostle of Allah. Those who follow him are merciful to one another, but ruthless to unbelievers" Sura 48:29.
