At this point, Turkey is about as close as it gets. But of course Turkey is officially secular, notwithstanding the predominantly Muslim population. The erroneous prohibition of interest in the Qur'an makes success in any truly Muslim modern society doubtful.

Depends on your definition of success.
All I know is that everything in life has to develop and expand. Islam has done that in the early stages but since there is so much inflexibility in the Shariah there isn't much progress. One great thing that Islam has done - united many tribes under one banner. Another is zakat - which is an annual donation of your wealth to the poor.
Regardless of, which religion implements religious laws on the believers people can only accept so much of the law. No one wants to obey, everyone has free will and aspire to be devoted. No matter what the word of God may be it is always filtered through our perception and interpretation.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are good examples.
What's with keeping the women quieter or more covered up? Do you mean to say that a society with a woman with her body parts being exposed is successful? I don't think so. Women are respected, not thrown around.

Muhhamad and his folllowers took over cities without spilling a drop of blood. I would consider that successful. Islam is the fasting growing faith in the world. People are leaving Christianity for the strongly held and practiced beliefs of Islam. Don't forget medicine in that long list of things Muslims have given the west. They realized disease was caused by germs while Europeans were still looking to wizards to cast spells. Look more into your subject before posting questions please.
