How would you know which lip piercing looks good on you?

Question

I'm a total noob when it comes to facial piercings and I have no idea if there's a certain 'guideline' to follow when getting a lip piercing. Like hair, you have a round face that look may good with a certain style while others...not so flattering.

My question(s):
How would you know which lip piercing looks good on you?

Is it, like hair, dependent on a certain lip or face shape?
Or simply by trial and error?

I'm aware the piercer allows you to see what it looks like before getting it done. But, I'd like to have what I want in mind before going in and making myself look like an idiot with my noobish questions.

I think the labret is sexiest but it can wear down the gum line as well as anything touching the gumline. Monroe piercings aren't that great I don't like the wanna be mole thing. Oh and the whole side of the lip thing looks like you got something hanging. The only lip piercing that looks good is the labret. using either a barb or hoop or both.

dunno really...i just decided i wanted something & had it done...i didn`t spend too long analyzing whether my face shape was appropriate or not!!! i basically had a sense of what it would look like, as many of my friends have facial piercings & i knew that it looked great on them, so...but that`s about it, really!!!

Who ever said facial piercings look good? All the ones I see look infected, and I really don't understand the appeal. If you want to give the appearance that you are "hip" or "edgy" don't get a piercing or tattoo because honestly they scream "dork" or "wannabe I don't know what". Don't follow the crowd with this really-really BAD fashion statement. Next thing you know you'll grow a goatee and start playing frisbee golf.

Now me, I always play it low. I'm a badass but they never expect it or see me coming. I'm a sleeper, if you will..
