I don't have a "recipe". But what I do is slice or quarter the berries (depending on the size), then add sweetener (i.e. sugar, Selinda, etc.) to taste and smash into a lumpy liquid and slice more berries into the sauce. Slice up a sponge cake or a pound cake (home make or store bought). Put one slice of cake in a bowl, spoon the strawberries and sauce onto the cake, place a second piece of cake on top and spoon more of the strawberries and sauce onto the cake, then top with Cool whip or whip cream and a large, "pretty", whole strawberry and serve. It is easy and taste delicious. Just adjust the amount of berries and cake for how many people you are serving, and the sweetener for how sweet you need it. The cake can be sliced, the berries smashed and the whip cream readied, ahead of time so when you ready to serve, you just dish up or let everyone dish themselves.

Strawberry Shortcake
4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and cut in half
1 cup sugar, plus
2 tablespoons sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
whipped cream (to garnish)
Toss the strawberries with 1 cup (250 ml) sugar in a bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
In a separate bowl combine the 2 tablespoons sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt.
Blend in the butter.
Add the milk and vanilla and mix well.
Grease two 8-inch (20 cm) round cake pans and divide the batter between them.
Bake in a preheated 450F (230C) oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Remove from the oven and cool.
Place one cake upside-down on a serving platter and top with half the strawberries.
Top with the remaining cake layer and the rest of the strawberries.
Serve garnished with whipped cream.

The best shortcake I have ever made is right there on the side of the Bisquick box.....very good!
The rest - the strawberries and such - just mix the berries with a bit of sugar (or honey) and let sit for a while then get yourself a pint of whipping cream - and whip it up with a tablespoon +/- of sugar and then about a tsp of vanilla.

I usually create my shortcakes out of poundcake, angel food cake, or even very thick sugar cookies! Something you might consider that is really easy to fix is to get some of the giant refrigerated biscuits that you simply bake. Roll them in melted butter and coarse ground sugar and bake according to package directions. Cool and split. Top with sweetened berrys and whipped cream. Yum!

There used to be a good one on the Bisquick box. Not sure if it's still there or not but you might look the next time you're shopping.
