The wedding miracle in cana had little to do with the alchol involved really. Let me explain. Wine is something that is very important in Jewish wedding. The ceremony and the celebration lasted for days. When the wine started to dwindle in supply, they started to use the cheaper wine. But, it wasn't supposed to be used if you really wanted to have a good celebration. Jesus cared about something that seemed to not matter so much in the grand scheme of things -- but it matters to the family at the wedding. It was a concern, and so, he cared about it as well. That is something I learn from that. Drinking too much is seen as a sin as said in the scriptures. It isn't drinking that is the sin--it is drinking too much. However, some Christians do disagree with ANY alcohol consumption because they believe it will not allow good judgment to deal with temptations that could come their way. That is why many disagree with it. Also, some don't believe you can drink without being drunk. Others don't think people can control any type of alcohol consumption. Others may take the verse that ask us not to drunk heavily actually means not drinking at all. Hope this helps you to see where some people are coming from. However, in my personal opinion, it is only the drinking too much that is a sin and drinking underage.

Jesus never sinned. Drinking wine is not a sin. Most Christians do not consider it a sin. You may have been talking to someone who does not know the Lord or the scripture. Some people like just assuming things.

I never heard that most Christians look at it as a sin. What are you talking about? He turned the water into wine. It is not a sin to drink wine. We have it at church every Sunday. And when we have a special get together in the evening, people bring good wine to drink. No problem for the Episcopalians!!

From a more literal since, At the time of jesus much of the water supply in there area was not all that clean. Wine was used more like the bottled water we drink now. It was also said not drink of the wine after it has turned. We still drink wine as a form celebrating Jesus. In the ceremony of the last supper christians Drink wine to symbolize the blood of christ... Baptist churches in my area have moved to grape juice which is in closer relation to the wine of Jesus... I think mainly due to the cost of wine to standard juice.

Drinking wine is not a sin but getting drunk is.

Go, eat your food with rejoicing and drink your wine with a good heart, because already the [true] God has found pleasure in your works
(Ecclesiastes 9:7)

What! Do YOU not know that unrighteous persons will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be misled. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, 10 nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor DRUNKARDS, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom.
(1Co 6:9-11)

I do not think it is a sin and there is nothing wrong with a glass of wine - the not stopping part is what's wrong

I've read somewhere that in the Koran Jesus' first miracle was when he spoke as an infant.
