Japanese sports car the Nissan Skyline. The handling and speed of the skyline has caused many motor magazines compare it to cars like the Porsche 911, and Ferrari, but the cost of the Nissan is significantly less.
The legendry nissan skyline RB26DETT is arguably the most tunable engine on the planet 1000hp GTR's are not uncommon in Japan and the strength of these engines is amazing. Many Manufactures have produced bolt on parts to boost the power output way beyond stock. Handling features way ahead of their time like the ATTESSA four wheel drive system and the HICAS four wheel steering system had the nissan skyline ahead of the competition.

They were wicked fast. However the new 350Z is very close and much safer. Now the reasons they were not imported. Fuel higher octaine available overseas. Steel guard beams mandated in the USA for side impact protection also bumper that can take 2.5 mph bump, right hand drive, head lights, usa approved seat belts and worst of all the emissions of the in line turbocharged 6 cyl engine. While we can clean them up with EGR valves revised engine controls and cat converters power is lost. Video Games really have made the Skyline popular Importers of them come and go. All and all they are just about as reliable as a Suburau WRX. And surprizing enough in stock trim they handle like a front heavy 240SX.

Recently, a vehicle which came to notoriety is the Nissan Skyline, which was featured proeminently in video games, movies and magazines. This vehicle, being exclusively sold in Japan, became an object of intrest and in 1999, a California company, Motorex, sacrificed a small number of R33 GTS25s for the purpose of crash testing. They submitted their information to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and petitioned them to allow 1990-1999 GT-Rs and GTSs to be imported, at the condition that they were modified to meet federal motor vehicle safety standards.
Many Skylines were subsequently imported through Motorex. This lasted until late 2005, when the NHTSA became informed that not all 1990 through 1999 Skyline models would perform identically in crash testing. Motorex had submitted information for only the R33, and told the NHTSA that it was sufficient for all R32, R33, and R34 models. According the further review by the NHTSA, only 1996-1998 R33 models have been demonstrated as capable of being modified to meet the federal motor vehicle safety standards. After that, only these 1996-1998 models are eligible for importation. In March of 2006, Motorex ceased all imports and Motorex principal Hiroaki "Hiro" Nanahoshi was arrested and held on $1 million bail on financial, kidnapping, and assault charges.[1][2]
The North American Automobile Trade Association is an association of dealers that buy and sell vehicles across international borders.
The NHTSA administers the Registered Importer Program that allows companies to import and bring into compliance non conforming vehicles.

they are illegal for several reasons
1.they were never imported to the US by nissan
2.emission control
3.they are made of fiber glass and are right hand drive and have no crash or safety tests done to them
and whoever says that they are illegal because they can outrun cops is bs because there are many cars in the US that are way faster than the skyline and are street legal so whoever says that is talking nonsense

Skylines are way to fast to be street legal because anybody can outrun the cops in a skyline. skylines can reach a speed over a 140 mph.

Skylines are illegal in the US(i'm making an educated guess on your location) because of...
-Safety concerns
-Emission control. Especially in California. Sucks to be me.

fI believe for the most part that Skylines don't have the proper emission control that is required by the U.S. You can get A skyline in the U.S but its the same thing as the infintiy G35.
