Jesus seems to have died for our sins, but only for the sins that Jesus saw as sins. He and his Daddy gave us a pretty thick book, in which all the sins are described that He died for.

Somehow I find that pretty arogant, if I were to die for somebody else's sins, I'd find it more important that I'd die for what that other person sees as sins. Not what I would find sinful, that would just be plain selfish. But that's besides the point.

I'm sometimes truly sorry about my blunt honesty. Sometimes I insult people, simply because I forget to use a white lie. A white lie would be forgiven by Jesus, who died for that (Thanks man!), but who forgives me for honesty? To whom do I repent?

Something about a world ever lasting that covers your tail like a rug, and no matter how hard your try to crawl from under that particular grace, oops, there you; are covered again. The beauty of it was that even before you were on this good earth the Nazarene understood that you of all people would need something to believe in, that you would need hope and light. So, without your understanding or approval he, who knowingly could appreciate all the hell you'd have to go through if he didn't do this particular thing. Gave up a life that was working for him to make assure that your life would have hope and light and wouldn't be forever doomed to darkness and despair. In dying, he busted up the darkness,he brought up all your wrongs. As a result you get to ask brilliant questions, with the hope of getting an decent answer.

Actually, the bible isn't supposed to be exhaustive, and to cover everything we ever could do wrong. It is a general guideline for societal and personal behavior. Yes, it's important to get it right, because without law and order, there would be chaos and the destruction of people's hearts.

By the way, you are right again: Jesus DID die for the sins YOU see as sins! And He did it so you can have a clear conscience. We've all done things that are base and mean, and that secretly we cringe to remember. Jesus DID die for those. And in fact, He is really the most interested in showing people that it is for PRECISELY those sins that Jesus died, and it is precisely those sins that Jesus wants to heal our hearts and minds from the painful memories of accusations that constantly come up within ourselves even if we've never, ever told anyone what we'd done. Do you know why? It's because these personal sins are the ones that cause us the most grief. You are right: by comparison, if I jaywalk, it's technically a sin (sin means to "miss the mark"). However, I care a lot more about the fact that I yelled at my father the week he died. I cringe that I'm far too often willing to be dishonest to cover something I've done wrong because I HATE consequences. But I also hate lying. But it really is these things that hurt me the most, and for you, whatever your list is, the things that hurt YOU the most that Jesus most wants to show you that you are forgiven for so you can live free. John 8:36 says, "If the son therefore will make you free, you shall be free indeed." And John 8:35 explains the reason why Jesus can... it's not from arrogance, but actually the reason's quite different. It's from love. John 8:35 says that whoever is a slave to a sin doesn't continue endlessly in their Father (God)'s house. But it says that Jesus DID reside continually in His Father's house. So he can always hear His Father's voice saying, "tell him I love him! Tell him I forgive him!" And Jesus can show you how to not be entangled in the sin or the guilt of the accusation any more, because He knew how to listen to His Father's encouragements and He can teach us what His Father has to say.

By the way, your blunt honesty is fine. It really is. It's a little strange to think of, but I hope this makes sense: the bible was just given as a guideline for right or wrong for people to take with them in life's journey just as a help. The real thing that's supposed to tell us what's right or wrong is our own heart, and we should listen to it far more than we should listen to any other person. Because back when the bible was written there were a lot people seeking to rule the masses. Some by tyranny, some by misunderstanding what God was like, some by purposeful deceit for the sake of gain, etc. So the bible was supposed to be a way to help rescue out of the general pitfalls of life in that day. There were lots of other teachings about what was acceptable behavior available, and many, many people were without much education. So God gave the book just as a gift to cover the basics. The rest is up to our own honesty and integrity. And I ABSOLUTELY agree with you that this is the way that it SHOULD be!

By the way, as to your question "who forgives me for honesty?" the answer is: there is no need to be forgiven for honesty. Whether or not your honesty is correct. Honesty is acceptable. If, however you are attempting to be CRUEL in your honesty, then the forgiver would be, of course whoever you were trying to hurt. But believe when I say God has big shoulders. He can take it if you find the concept of someone you never met before dying and forgiving you for things you never asked to be forgiven for. You are right... it's strange. But it is wonderful to think that there is someone out there in the Universe who cares to help me unravel the mess I sometimes make out of my brain, my life, and my relationships by the lies I tell, or the cruel things I say or do, or the promises I don't keep. Forget everything else: if someone can help you obtain an utterly clean conscience, that is really worthwhile. And yes, it's weird to think that someone living 2,000 years ago might care to give up His life for all of the "evil" or "bad" I ever do... And the good thing is, if I don't know Him very well now because time, or distance or my own beliefs stand in the way, then we both have all eternity to get acquainted with Him. In the end, a person who can forgive you for the ugliest of ugliest things you've ever done I am SURE in heaven will be your VERY BEST friend you ever had because a free heart is SO grateful! It's not even about heaven or hell so much as it is about being forgiven. If you've ever forgiven someone just because you didn't want your relationship broken with them, then you know the forgiveness you gave is the sweetest unspoken strength between the two of you.

Jesus didn't die for "sins", he died for being an anti-slavery activist in the midst of the Roman Empire where the bulk of the labor force was human slaves. The concept of "sin" did not even exist until after 313AD when the Emperor Constantine I created christianity to manage and control the hoards of slaves of the Empire.:"Sin" is everything that is remotely connected to human freedom. When it comes to sin, King Solomen said in Ecclesiastes, "There is nothing new under the sun". Any sin you can think of has already been done. And Jesus died for our sins, even the sins we haven't committed yet. If you're a Christian, thank God that Jesus paid your debt for you. If you're not a Christian, think about repenting. Do it now, tomorrow may be too late.

The law came down to two simple things:
Love God
Love Man
If you do anything that violates those then you are committing sin.
Everyone has sinned and the blood of Christ is sufficient to cover those sins. It arogant to think that you can out sin the power of Christ. The only sin that can't be forgiven is the sin of arogance that says "I don't need forgiveness, I'm good enough"

First you need to understand what a Sin is! Sin is a falling short of God's mark of perfection, transgression of his righteous laws! Romans 3:23 says "all have sined and fall short of the glory of God." everyone was born in sin...Ps. 51:5 romans 5:12...when Adam and Eve Sinned by disobeying God's plainly stated law at Gen. 2:16,17 they sined...the wages sin pays...is DEATH.....rom.6:23 through the disobedence of one man many were consitiuted sinners.- rom 5:19 so no descendant of adam is free from sin...all inherit it from the first man...1 john 1:8-10 1 king 8:46 ...sin results in death romans 5:17 ezek. 18:4 Jesus came to the earth to give back what adam lost....everlasting life for his offspring and a relationship with God

Sin is personal. There are 3 things that make up a sin: something actually being wrong (becasue it is hurtful to you or someone else), the person knowing it is wrong, and the person doing it anyway intentionally. It actually takes effort to sin and Jesus took alot of effort to die for our sins. You know when you are committing sin.

I suggest you read the Gospels. How do you know the definition of Jesus of a sin? The term "Jesus died for our sins" is not as simple as you think.

Marky -
You are talking in circles.

Read and study the bible.

Whether you believe or not, Jesus paid the penalty for sin. There is nothing new under the sun. There are no "new" sins that people have come up with. Every depraved, selfish, horrible, deceitful, etc... thing that man could come up with, you are not the first nor will be the last.

When Jesus shed His precious blood on the cross it was for sin, no matter what "that other person sees as sin".

The Bible holds the truth of God and His ultimate authority.

Now the way of salvation is to put your faith in the one who died for your sin, repent of your sin, a recieve His gift of salvation, pick up YOUR cross and follow Him daily. Are you ready?
