Any small ornamental container with a lid will work. It might be better to leave the ashes in the bag for just in case it is knocked over.

Depends on what you're looking for as "Correct".
Legally (at least in Australia) you can do what you want. As far as the law's concerned the body has been correctly "disposed of" (as heartless as that phrase is it's the legal term).
Morally is another issue. & honestly it's what you feel comfortable with. Obvious you're not comfortable with a plastic bag. You can get urns, but I've seen little pottery sugar bowls (with a good sealing lid) be used as a temporary storage (sealed with candlewax & with or without the plastic bag) until you scatter them someplace.

I'm sorry because DNA contains Deoxyribose sugar, Phophates and adenine, guanosine, cytosine and thymine whereas Ashes contain Mostly Carbon. However with improper cremation or burning, tissue if fund can help in recovery of DNA

You can visit several Brassware shops and find a suitable urn. Have the ashes placed in the Urn Sealed and transcribed on the side the information.
I have even had my Dog cremated and he is in a brass urn over my book shelf.

I don't think there is a correct or incorrect way for storing the human remains of one we love. As long as you aren't breaking any laws. Do what you wish. The person who was cremated was someone you cared about and obviously want close by.
Sorry for your loss. But you will always have them close in spirit.
Bright Blessings!

Get an Urn with a screw tight lid..
If the Urn you choose does not have a screw tight lid keep the ashes in a plastic bag within the urn just in case it gets topples over...

You will normally, buy a good, sturdy urn.
Put the ash into the urn.
Store them in funeral homes.
They have specially made 'cabinets' with glass doors on shelves where you then place the urns for safe keeping.

You can put it in a sealed urn.
You can also make a diamond out of it now (look it up online). That way you can keep it forever and it can be a family heirloom.

Do you know that there are companies who will turn the ashes into gems to be worn as jewelry.....
or artists that will use the ashes to make very taste full paintings?
I think i would like my ashes to be used to make a painting, as i am no oil painting here and now so i think it would be a great laugh to become one when i'm dead!!

Construct a little storage for them to place and stay with them forever but you will be back to dust the same.
