They're not tramp stamps or punk rock, and it's certainly not just girls getting them. They're all over the place and pretty unoriginal. I wouldn't be caught dead getting one. But to answer your question, they don't mean anything. They're all about the trend, which is a horrible reason to get a tattoo.

Some chicks that have these so called stars it actually means something to them, my grandfather and my father where sailors so i have two nautical stars on my elbow's so see there are some chicks out there that actually took the time to do some research and put some thought into it . the other chicks i can't say why personally I think a lot girls nowadays are just trying to jump on the band wagon , I've been getting Inked for nearly 22 years now.and for the chick who wanted to be a smart *** and answer there trying to be punk rock she probably isn't even old enough to know what true punk rock is.

I'm a girl and I have a lot of tattoo's, all originally designed for me by my tattooist, almost all have a meaning to me, a few I got simply because I liked them. I don't think I'm punk, original, trendy or anything else. It just means I like star tattoo's.

I have 4 girlfriends with a star on their hip. All of them have the exact same star. I think it's cute but meaninless...
It took me over a year to design my tattoo. I drew the same thing over and over and over again till I knew it was what I wanted. It's a set of plumeria flowers on my foot. The reason? It is my favorite flower and it represents my favorite place in the world (Hawaii) and also...flowers never go out of style because they are flowers....and I can hide it if I want
If you want a star that bad...then get it! it's your body....

I have star tattoos, and they are in three different sizes, the biggest one is for my husband, the two smaller ones are for each of my kids. I thought it was a really meaningful way to represent the most important people in my life, without looking gaudy by having names all over me. I am a smaller woman, and did not want to go overboard with something huge.

people get tattoos done for different reasons - i've always loved tattoos, and for me they're significant because they remind me of a particular time in my life. but, like other body mod things (like belly button piercings) the bandwagon has been jumped on by unoriginal people thinking they're being something better than they are. fashion's not a good reason to get a tattoo. but personal feelings are.

My husband and I each got a set of stars. They symbolize infinity in our relationship. FYI a "tramp stamp" actually refers to tattoos on the lower back that are oh so popular with girls.

i was going to get a star cluster on my left foot. i just thought it was pretty and i'm kind of picky of tattoos and where to get them on girls. i changed my mind though because i heard there is a high risk of infection on the feet and i don't want it bad enough to get it somewhere else.
