Both the concepts regarding hinduism, are equally important. Lord shiva is the suprime god, and the Maan Shakthi is also a undenaible side of devinity. That's why arising the questions regarding the Hinduism, will not be holds good.

Shiva Shakti is the unified strength. Souls of Shiva and Shakthi are different. When the two souls merge, there will one unified soul. That is what Adi Shankarar did.

If you're a Hindu, then, yes. "Atman" is different from the essence of the gods. They're just pieces of Brahman that are elevated into the Guna of Sattwah.
