Waxing does not make hair grow back darker or coarser. Shaving slices the top of the hair so it grows back bristly & seems to grow back darker.
Waxing is tricky & takes practice to take the hair out by the root. You probably only tugged off the exposed hair.
For best results, go to a professional for waxing or threading. Avoid waxing if you are using Retin-A or Differin because it thins your skin. Be sure to let the aesthetician know what kinds of medication & skin care you are using to prevent irritation.
Here's an excellent article about hair removal methods: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/hair.asp?ID=166
Bottom line, don't panic. Consult w/ a professional @ a salon & book an appointment after enough hair has grown back so the wax has enough to grab onto.

It still looks like you shaved because of the pores. When you waxed your hair which was thick which leaves leaves you to large pores. My suggestion is to keep waxing. Waxing makes hair thinner but in this case it will take a while. Also I suggest you to get something that will minimizes your pores.

Start using Nair for faces. It's gentle and works really, really well. Do it at night on the weekend in case it makes your skin a bit red, and use a Vitamin E lotion after. The hair grows back thinner and thinner every time.
You can also get Aveeno's Simply Smooth facial lotion which will keep the hair away longer. It works really well. You can find all this stuff at Target or Wal-Mart.

you probably have dark facial hair and the roots are showing long before the hair is long enough to wax. the only real help for this is laser hair removal - a dermatologist can do this for you in an office visit.

Waxing is just generally a bad idea...it pulls out all the little hairs that are invisible to the naked eye along with the darker ones, making them grow in thicker.
here's what I do: buy yourself a facial hair bleaching kit... blonde hairs really don't show up. then pluck the real bad buggers out with tweasers.
eventually they will even be finer than when you waxed them!

You shouldnt have waxed it, now you will have to wax it all the time. It's best to bleach it, well that's what dark haired people do. Or laser hair removal.
