Contrary to what the info commercials suggest, there is no such thing as spot reduction. Fat is lost throughout the body in a pattern dependent upon genetics, sex (hormones), and age. Overall body fat must be reduced to lose fat in any particular area. Although fat is lost or gained throughout the body, it seems the last area to become lean or the first area to get fat is the midsection (in men and some women) and hips and thighs (in women and few men).

You can't spot weight loss. The various core and ab exercises will strengthen and tone your abdominal muscles but won't increase the fat loss from that area specifically.

You need to lose fat generally. Eat less, work out more. Unfortunately some people are genetically inclined to put fat around their core and may find it difficult to lose this fat. It goes on first and comes off last.

cardio is the only way to lose fat on any parts of your body (unfortunately we cant choose which ones) 4-6 times a week for 30-50min combined with light weight training
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

really any cardio machine, but I like the elliptical machine the best it tends to burn more calories
