Ok.. fundie mormons. And yes, I know it is illegal, but it is still practiced. Don't even deny it! I know all mormons don't participate, but it still exists.

Saintrose-- you have it about half right there. I know it has been outlawed by the LDS, but it certainly wasn't created by Joseph Smith to protect the poor mormon widows. If that were true, he would not have married so many young ladies...

Only the very extreme sects of Mormonism still practice polygamy. They have broken from the main Latter Day Saints Church, who do NOT support polygamy, in order to practice it. This is an extremely small amount of people, and most of them are just rogues that are all in the same family who have created a cult.

Well most Mormons did not practice polygamy in the first place and do not any more. Those who practice it are under condemnation from the church and God. It was abolished in the 1880's in the True Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints. However it was to take care of widow's who's husbands had died leaving them with nothing and to give a opportunity to women who were less fortunate in looks and brains for a husband too. I think it was in some rare cases taken advantage of. But as I understand it, the wife in most cases had to agree to her husband taking of another wife. You have to remember back then there was no government assistance for someone down on their luck which happens to a lot of single women then and now.

They key word to your questions is the fundamentalist mormons. Like waren jeffs and communitys like that. From what I understand they are banned from outside communication like computers and internet, so anyone who ever directs a question to them will never get an answer from them because they believe the internet is evil. However the LDS religion does not practice polygamy and cannot answer questions that we take no part in. I appreciate you directing your question to fundamentalist though, instead of bunching us all together.

Well you are about to enrage many "mormons" who would otherwise tell you that they aren't mormons and that is a nickname. However when the subject of polygamy comes up, all of the sudden they are mormon, and the fundies don't exist (which they do and they are mormon too).
So anyway, your question is so wrong in so many ways.

not a reason to become a mormon anymore since the church outlawed polygamous practices a while ago. definitely an excuse to take advantage of young women by marrying them off to ignorant old men though.

I think it's a total mind control and ownership type of thing. The polygamists themselves say it isn't about control and sex but I think from the man's perspective that is what it is all about. And in the case of the FLDS, it's definitely an issue of taking advantage of underage girls and grown women alike.

Maybe you have not been informed properly, but Mormons don't practice Polygamy, much less pedophilia.

There are some other religious groups who do practice polygamy and pedophilia.

You need to get your facts straight.
