Well, one opportunity is starting your own business. With a horticulture degree, you'd have the knowledge to open a nursery, grow organic vegetables, plant an orchard, etc. Some successful farm businesses offer internships and "apprentice" positions, so there are opportunities to learn from the ground up too.
Backyard Market Gardening by Lee Foreman covers the basics of how to start your own organic veggie operation.

Frankly to say now a days agriculture has no openings. but agriculture is the best to serve the society by providing food. fields like computers, business are well paid. but keep in mind that every living thing can only survive if it takes food. I appreciate that u have an interest for agriculture. without farmer there is no food. so don't think about job oppurtunities. purchase a piece of land convert it into a paradise.

Well, you'll never get rich but you'll have good mental health and you'll be fine as long as your body holds out then you better have a plan because you will be a phsical wreak at an early age. Try to stay in research and get tenure at a University. I got a degree, beat myself up and with one tour to Iraq 3 years ago I'm now a cripple that the Gov wants nothing ($$) to do with.

I don't know where you are or how old you are, but you can look this up at the school at which you plan to attend or talk to the instructors about this. The opportunities are there, but exactly which are most diverse where you live is another matter.
