Well he can't have people put to death publicly anymore but he still controls a whole lot of catholics

He may not have the political power he had some 300 years ago, but he still wields significant respect in the world. World leaders receive him like a head of state, and many millions see him as God voice on earth. So he still has power, but it is slowly waning.

It remains to be seen with this one but, Pope John Paul II --- WOW!!! What a soldier of God. He practically single handedly brought down Communism. When God is behind them, they cannot lose even if the foe thinks they have won they have lost.

Very little except as a figure head yet he can bring some direction to the church as long as there is not too much opposition to any changes he may propose.

Well since he came clean with his secret identity and doesn't wear the cape or mask anymore when fighting crime he has lost a little of his power and awe. Now people just look at his nifty red shoes.

Very powerful. That stuff about the pope is more politic than religion. Catholics are very devote to the pope. I think that if he tells them no to vote for Hillary, maybe they won't. But that may not happen.

The fact that he is powerful is this world don't make me believer of their doctrines.

Say he is intelligent than you are . Do not say that he is very powerful. Do you mean to say he is competing with the power of God? no way. The pope belongs to mankind with limited powers and intelligence and accept that he is more intelligent than you are.
