If you were starting from a fatter position, you could probably do about 1,000 calories a day for quite a long time, as long as you keep up your exercise. When you get too tired to exercise, you will know you have gone into starvation mode.
At your weight, you would not want to do this every day for very long. Perhaps two to three days being very cautious, then a day or two of extra calories in the form of good protein. Again, keep up your exercise not only to burn what you eat, but to give you an indication of when you are losing it too fast.
And don't go too far. For your height, 120 would be a good weight. Much below that, and you will begin to lose muscle mass, not just fat.

This is difficult because each person's metabolism and body reacts differently. It sounds like your body seems to be doing well, with losing 40 pounds (congratulations by the way). However, there is no way of knowing exactly how the health is affected by all of this. It does sound like you have an extremely high level of activity though, and with that I would likely recommend a higher level of calorie intake. I know, you may think it will make it harder for you to loose weight, but that is not necessarily the case. With more energy available, your body will be able to better use the energy you do have. For example, if you don't have enough calories it will get its energy from sources that may not always be beneficial (its not safe to assume its burning the fat you want it to). Upping your intake by 25% or so will give it more flexibility and will not likely have much of an adverse affect on what you are trying to accomplish. If anything, you may feel more energetic overall and have more nutrients available in your body that come with the extra food sources.

Only consuming 900 calories a day is very dangerous. If you actually needed to lose weight, a doctor would recommend something around 1700 calories a day instead of 2000, but it depends on the intentions and the individual person. You could develop serious malnutrition issues and pass them on to your baby when you breastfeed as well. If you eat well and stay active( not necessarily working out but not on the couch all day) then you will lose that 10 pounds in 1-3 months.

First of all, Congratulations on your weight loss!!
You should aim for about 1200-1500 calories a day if you're trying to lose weight. If you eat too few calories then eat more when you take off the weight you will put it all right back on. Eating 1200-1500 will keep up your metabolism. If you eat too little it will lower your metabolism
But since you've recently lost a lot of weight you really should consider talking to a nutritionist so they can assess your specific situation so you don't gain the weight back or hurt yourself. Make sure you're taking vitamins. And please go see a nutritionist. They can give you suggestion on what to be eating to stay healthy and also take off the last 15 pounds you want.

That seems like a healthy intake so long as its healthy foods and fruits/vegetables mixed in. You need to remember to drink water to ward off dehydration. If you dont workout the entire day that you consumed 1100 calories you can POSSIBLY gain weight but its really not that much. Your body will go into starvation mode if you begin burn too many calories vs your intake. So if you burn 2300 calories and only consumed 1100, you used 1200 from body fat and/or muscle. Try to avoid from over doing it in one day because that can cause more harm than good to your body.
Remember alot of weight that females gain can also be attributed to water retention so remember to take that into account at this stage in your regimen. Since you are really close to your goal maybe you should focus on toning your body, which still burns alot of calories, on alternating days from your normal excercises.
You seem to be doing a good job, keep it up and good luck.

Maybe on SOME days, but not everyday. Yes your body will go into starvation mode if you do that. Some days eat like 1800 and others 1300. Keep your body guessing and your metabolism will stay high. If you are as active as you say you are, you will need a lot more calories.

no, what you are doing is not ok at all.
body needs 50cal/hour just for functioning (like when you are in coma) so thats 1200cal/day
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Anything under 1200 calories per day will send your body into starvation mode. If you stay this way long enough, you'll stop menstruating, grow facial hair and your voice will get lower, since your hormone balance will be off.
Keep doing what you've been doing, eat around 1500 calories per day, be patient and you'll reach your goal!
