I use a pedometer. Any walking
is beneficial. If you are doing it
properly and wearing the right
type of shoes.
I started off at 3 miles a day.
Now it's 3 miles twice a day.
How far you walk and how fast,
depends on your current weight
and health. Any is better than none.
It's a heart thing........for me anyway.
My goal is 6 miles twice a day. I'm
saving up for a tread mill, for bad weather.

That is very good.
I used to walk to and from work, about an hour and a half each day. Needless to say, I never gained weight. Even without a pedometer. Which, by the way, may not be accurate.

How much to walk depends on what you aim to gain. For a diabetic or hypertensive or heart patient or an old person, quick walk with arms swinging for atleast 20 min everyday for 5 days a week is enough. pulse rate should touch 120/min during the exercise.
if you dont belong to the above category and if you want to lose excess weight or improve your stamina, the abovementioned exercise is not adequate. you may have to jog, swim or do skipping or all three depending on your present level and the required level.if you walk, your pulse rate should stay above 120/min for atleast 20-30min for it to be considered an adequate exercise. if you form a thin layer of sweat at the end of the exercise, its all the better.

I have heard...its how long you exercise and typically you should exercise at least one hour at a time. Who needs a pedometer? I had a couple and lost all of them:)

I've heard 10,000 steps or 5 miles a day. However, http://walking.about.com/od/measure/f/10000steps.htm has some interesting information about it otherwise.

I think that is real good. Any amount of walking is beneficial, but not to overdo it.
