That is.... weird. However, I think you should neither give up drinking to swear off that occasional presence, nor become a wino to bask in the glory of Jesus. Does that feeling of presence make you uncomfortable and that why you considering giving up drinking? Personally, I would recommend you explore spirituality while sober and challenge the faith while drunk... the conflicting thoughts will possibly have one eventually win over the other. I this think that its weird...

The question is, do you really feel anything when you're drunk. Most people think they can do it on the their own when they're 'sensibly sober' and then being drunk lowers inhibitions, makes you see the truth and makes you realise you can't be a one man/woman island. Should you give up drinking? How about giving up being drunk.

I seriously doubt that you feel the presence of Jesus Christ while drunk. And if you are atheist you don't claim there is a Jesus anyway.
Give up drinking, YES i think that would be a wise idea.
You might miss it from time to time, but you will never once regret it. Good luck

You feel this way BECAUSE you drink. Alcohol IS a depressant. I would suggest not drinking for a while. Talk to friends and family or a counselor. I go through this all the time and I have battling addiction for most of my adult life. Find a different way to distract yourself from wanting a drink. Try running! After a while you will start to feel great and be healthy too. Pick up a hobby. Best of luck!!!

When you feel that presence in an intoxicated state, it means sub-consciously you believe the existence of such a thing.
You can always change your relegious orientation. If you dont want to, then its not necessary to stop drinking. Just forget about it thinking that you always have hallucinations while drunk. For eg. you feel somebody is staring at you though he's simply doing his own work.
You have to work these questions of spirituality in your mind. They oblige to reason and can be solved like any mathematical problem i.e., using reason and evidences.

Next time you feel Jesus' presence while drunk, ask him to meet with you while you are sober.

When your sober you think no one is there to talk to, ask things, argue with, shout at, complain to.
When you are drunk, you just cannot stop the need to communicate and you think only Jesus can hear you, so you talk to him.
Hey, you never know, he may be there to listen when your sober too.

We all do and think stupid things when we are drunk . You are most aware of yourself sober . I think being drunk you just tend to think about what people try to pound into your brain from age none that there is a god but there isnt so .

That depends on who you ask... I've got a hunch than more than one around here would tell you to give up on being sober, instead, and pray to Jesus for a new liver. But, it's your life and you should choose.
