Sounds like he has nothing to do with Hell except in the end when he gets thrown into the lake of fire along with Hell.

he is not the ruler. he is simply someone-or something lol-that gets thrown into Hell because of his rebelion against God. it never says he is the ruler.

He was Lucifer, the angel who fell from heaven like a streak; He is the Father of Lies, the Author of Confusion, the Dark One---sounds pretty hellish to me. He is actually called the Prince of this world (meaning earth) and although he already lost the war, he is still powerful enough to harm people, especially those who don't know to call upon the saving power of Christ.

I can tell ny the way you worded your Q that you didn't really ask this question for information, necessarily, and I also realize how laughable "Christianspeak" is to non-believers, but I really don't know how else to answer your question.

The Bible tells us "The Word is foolishness to those who are perishing." This is always running through my head when I answer things on R&S.... but I also know that Christ is not content that even one person should perish..He came that ALL might be saved.

Most of the questions asked by non-believers on R&S could be best answered (and most accurately) if the askers were to go straight to the Source, and not bother with the puny little humans on Y!A.

I'm telling you, the Catholic Church did a really good job at making stuff up. Kudos to you for reading for yourself. Did you also notice death and hell are thrown in there too? So that would mean the wicked aren't going to be alive in hell, but rather burned up along with everything else evil. Heaven would be a lot nicer without having to hear all those faint shrieks coming from hell. I prefer eternity will no more evil...at ALL.

Hardly a ruler. He is a ruler of this world, currently-- that's it. The rest is just continual destruction and torment.

Joh 12:31 “Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
Joh 14:30 “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

No, you got it right.
Satan was given power over the Earth and is the Prince of the Powers of the Air.
That was one of the reasons the Churches rejected Benjamin Franklin's Lightning rods for so long.
They thought a lightning rod would show a terrible lack of faith in God, and that ringing the blessed bells would scare Satan away from the Church Steeples. (they lost a lot of bell ringers that way.)

Hell is the grave or nothingness

This being so - Satan is the angel of death and the ruler of nothing(ultimately).

Yup. You missed it. Satan's kingdom is on the earth in the minds and thoughts of his loyal subjects. He's not there yet.

Rev 20:1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.
Rev 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
Rev 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Rev 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Rev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
Rev 20:6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
Rev 20:7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,
Rev 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Rev 20:9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.
Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
Rev 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
Rev 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Rev 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Rev 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
