Set the dice with a 2 and 1 showing Thats to say 2 2 and 11then place 2 units on the 6 and 8 and place one unit on the Field this will pay you something as long as the 7 doesn't show sweet payoff if you hit 2 or 12

First, there are 16 ways to win but only 20 ways to lose.
Second, many tables pay double on 2 or 12, which reduced the house edge. A few pay double on 2 and triple on 12 (or vice versa) which further reduces the house edge.
While I woud not exactly call it a strategy, you can look for these tables. You certainly should refuse to make field bets unless they pay double or triple on 2 or 12.
Other than that, nothing really helps. A lot of craps players like to believe the dice are more likely to have opposite sides of the dice come up on consecutive roles. If it were true, that would mean that a 2 is more likely to be followed by a 12 and a 12 is more likely to be followed by a 2. I don't believe it and don't recommend you believe it either. However, if you are tempted to bet on the field it is probably better to have a system that reduces the numer of times you play it.
Since you can get better odds with other bets, there is no good reason to bet on the field.

If you play a double unit on the 5,6, and 8, and a single unit on the field, then you're guaranteed at least a unit of profit on every roll so long as it isn't a 7. When that seven does hit though you lose about 7 units (closer to 8 if you bet the 6 and 8 correctly). And that 7 will come up one out of 6 rolls. But I like to use this method when I'm going out for the night and just want $100 for the cover and some booze. Find a decent table, lay $200 on the 5, $240 on the 6, $240 on the 8, and $100 on the field. Let the shooter roll once, and as soon as you collect pull your bets down. You have a 5/6 chance (83.3%) chance of getting your drinking money. I've done this 5 times and hit every time, so I suppose the next time I try it I'll have to pay the piper.

The house advantage on the field bet is 5.56%. Nothing you do can change that. It's a terrible bet; you get better odds on the roulette wheel (5.26% if you stay away from the five-number bet).

My sub-strategy is not to bet it at all. However, I see people bet it when they have all other numbers (5,6,8) covered except for 7. That way, they will receive cash for every roll except 7.
