My dog is already 7 years old, but we bought him after he was mis treated, so it was always stuck in his head. My dog is VERY VERY territorial. he is a fairly small dog, about 13 lbs. when he bites, do you yell at him or what. dont think im an idiot for saying that, but we've tried everything and we cant stop it.

A 7 year old animal with a history of abuse and territorial, aggressive behavior is going to be a big challenge to retrain,
but it is not impossible. You have to convince the dog that you
and any other person in the home is ALPHA of the pack and meant to be submitted to.
You are going to have to get some equipment if you don't already have it. You'll need a choke collar, a strong leash,
a few rubber bands, an old newspaper, a very small dog crate just big enough for the dog to stand up or lay down in,
heavy boots in your size, lots of oven mits, an old heavy, very big winter parka that you don't care about, and some very large sweat pants with a drawstring waist, and several old pillows, and a lot of the dog treats your dog likes best.
Step 1. Put collar on the dog.
Step 2. Put crate in a room with a lot of clear floor space. Put a food and water dish full outside crate.
Step 3. Put dog in crate and lock him in.
Step 4. Leave the room. Turn out lights.
Step 5. Allow noone to go into room for about 8 hours.
Step 6. Ignore all barking, whineing, etc. Do not even speak to dog.
Step 7. Take newspaper roll up tightly. Secure with rubber bands, Set aside.
Step 8. Turn air condition on to cool house way down.
Step nine. Put on the sweat pants, socks , and boots.
Stuff pillows into the legs of the pants. Put on the heavy parka. Zip it up.
Step 9. Fill a pocket of the parka with dog treats.
Step 10. Put oven mits on both hands.
Step 11. Get the leash and rolled up newspaper.
Step 12. Go into room and open up crate. Attach leash.
Step 13. Let dog out of crate with you firmly holding leash.
It should go right to food and water. If not lead it there and wait until it starts to eat.
Step 14 Once it starts to eat, reach down with the oven mited hand and snatch the food away. You'll probably get a growl or even a bite.
Step 15 If that happens, quickly say "NO. Bad dog." Grab the dog by the skin on the back of its neck and yank up hard. Try to lift the dog completely off the ground and dangle it in mid air when you do this. Hold it there for a few seconds.
Then bring it down quickly and put it on its back tummy up on the floor. Try to hold the dog by the throat with one hand and grip its mouth shut with the other. Lean over and bite the dog on the ear hard enough to make the dog yelp.
Step 16 Let the dog up, but don't let go of leash. If it tries
to run and hide, jerk the leash and if necessary drag dog back to you.
Step 17. Take dog outside to potty. Give it a treat if it goes.
If it won't take the treat from your hand without growling, snapping, or biteing. Repeat steps15 and 16.
Step 18. Go back inside. Let dog have more to eat and drink.
Step 19. Remove collar and put dog back in crate. Repeat steps 15 and 16 if any sign of territorial or aggressive behavior shows up.
Repeat this every day until the dog will let someone take away its food without any reaction.
Then, start training on another situation...taking away a toy.
then another situation, playing, bathing, etc etc.
Good luck.

Don't yell at your dog. That just adgitates it. Get it by the scruff of the neck on the ground, and go no. but in a very calm voice but put volume into it so your dog knows that its being bad. also you can spray it with a spray bottle.

no you do not yell at him, try petting him under his chin. I'd recommend you buy this book Paul Newman. You need to give it time for the dog to settle in your home. I'm not a good explainer tho :-)

If you get a spray bottle and spray him everytime he does anything like biting or whatever it my be he will learn that he isn't suppose to do that. my aunt did that to her cat and it stopped biting and climbing on things

Keep a spray bottle of plain water handy and give him one or two squirts when he misbehaves. And say NO
