is the cage too big? All u need is a small one for her. She should have just enough room 2 turn around in until she gets better bladder control and then u can get her a bigger one
I can't agree that a crate should only be used for training..my pup loved her crate and goes in on her own.It her escape when she wants down time, especially with kids around beacuse they know thats her home and we don't mess with her when shes in there and she knows this..they make it their den..their home

a three pound Minpin? That would desire to be a record of a few kind... Many questions not spoke back. a million) Has the canine been to a vet to rule out something scientific, like a UTI? 2) How long does the canine stay interior the crate. At 3 pounds, the bladder would desire to be microscopic! 3) Does the canine pee interior the homestead whilst not interior the crate? 4) is that this a sparkling habit, or has the canine continuously had this situation? 5) How previous is the canine? 6) Do you pull the water up at night? 7) Does the canine stay interior the crate all night, whether it has to pass out? 8) what's the feeding schedule? Is it conventional? basically some. there are various motives for a MInpin to pee interior the homestead, and the questions I purely asked have alot to do with the thank you to be certain the reason for the situation. regrettably, you will would desire to show out on your husband that Minpin rescue is comprehensive. In different words, we are basically taking dying row and serious. A canine who pees interior the homestead? An proprietor difficulty that desires to be solved by applying the owner. If all else fails, examine in with a coach to get the situation solved. it is not a reason to offload a canine.

They don't and usually will do anything to avoid it. Small dogs have smaller holding capacities than big breeds. Small puppies can only hold it for 3 hours at 3 months old, 4 hours at 4 months, 5 hours at 5 months, and 6 -8 hours at 6 months old.
To help speed up the process, do not allow the puppy any food or water for 2 hours before bedtime. Take puppy outside to potty right before bed.
Throw out old cage and get new one to get rid of imbedded smells. Also get one that doesn't look like the old one.

You must limit food and water in the hour or two before bedtime. Be sure to take her outside to do her business before putting her in her cage.
It is possible that her cage is too big, giving her "room" to have a "bathroom on the side"
Try a smaller cage. If she is about 9-10 lbs, she should fit in a small-medium kennel, one with just enough room to lay down in, nothing else. No food, no water. Just her.
I have a chihuahua about 9 lbs, he does fine.......not only that I have him trained to use a kitty litter box!!! Saves me from the rain, wind, cold and heat.!!! It does not smell at all either.!!!

One BIG mistake people do is buy a crate and then dont divide into a small section... for a MIN PIN... you only need not even 1/4 of the room for her to sleep in. ALSO do not put any WEE WEE pads in there. they have phermones to attract dogs to pee, so if you line her bed with it (as my friend did) all she will do is PEE on the bed, which ahs the phermones coming straight out of it..
Also, what i foudn to work with my pup is water regulation. Pick a time you think the dog should stop dirnking (note, if she plays vigoursly after this time, lets say 7pm, obviously give her water) Make a schedule
after 7, no more water... have her pee a few times outside and BIG BIG REWARDS.... if you put he rot bed at say 10pm, bring her out ONLY ONE MORE TIME and use cue words like PEE PEE when she pees,,, (i taught my pup to pee when I say so, this way when he goe sout at night all i say is SHOO SHOO and he pees)... Since your not giving water after 7pm, she will ahve somewhat of a empty bladder (of course metabolic processes still occur, so she still may pee, btu she wont be as full) Try this for 2 weeks... see if the peeing is better!
hope it helps

No offence, I really hope you're talking about a crate and not a cage. A cage is no good for an animal unless they are in transit, and a crate's good for training, nothing else. If someone put me in any cage I'd think I was back in some breeder's place, I'd also be miserable enough to potty where I slept.

Geez, use common sense. Take her outside before bedtime, get yourself up during the night and take her out early in the morning.
