My ex-husband and his wife went to the child support recovery a couple of weeks ago. He didn't get a tax refund because of back child support he owed to me. Anyways, when they were there, they wanted to waive the 6 month hold that is put on "joint tax offsets". He and his wife decided that they would not file an injured spouse form to amend their taxes, they just wanted to hurry up and get rid of the child support debt. He said they signed a form and that the lady at child support recovery told them I would get the money sooner. I am just wondering how much sooner. How long does it take to process this? At first I doubted what he said, because I could not find ANYTHING about it online searches...but after I called the child support recovery, I found out it can happen. But they also would not give me anymore info about it since it had to do with his taxes. I would like to know if it could be 4 to 6 weeks to get the money or longer?

You'll have to contact the child support enforcement agency yourself to get the answer to that question. It has nothing to do with the IRS. Once the refund has been offset and paid over to the enforcement agency by the FMS, it's entirely out of Federal hands and is now between you and the enforcement agency.
