i need another marriage license in order for my christian church to acknowledge our marriage. we are already married in a civil ceremony but the church is requiring us to provide another marriage license so we can perform our ceremony in church and for it to be recognized by our religion. is it possible to get another marriage license even though we are already married in civil court? help!

i talked to the court where we got married and they very rudely told me that there is no way for us to get a renewed marriage license even for church records purposes only since legally we are already married. so in short, they don't care about helping me to have my church wedding approved since the only license they can provide me is the expired one we used for our civil ceremony and i need one that's not expired. =(

go down to your local clerk of court and ask them for a copy of your marriage certificate. They may direct you to an address for your STATE to acquire it. A certificate of marriage is proof that you are legally married, even without the actual license. Like I said, your STATE is generally who you write to get that certificate, if you are legally married a certificate will be available to you.

Does the church understand that you have already had the civil service? I agree that they don't need a new marriage license to marry you in the church, the official copy you get from the county should be plenty. If not then I agree this is a church problem, not the clerks.

Unfortunately you cannot get another marriage license. Once you have one that you've signed, you cant get another one. However you should have been sent a certified copy of your marriage license and this should work for the church. If not, there is nothing you can do about it. Hope your church board changes their mind. Good Luck

Go to the county clerk where you got married and tell them your situation and the will give you a copy of the marriage license and than the church should let you get married.

Conflict or anger itself does not have to cause an irreparable rift between partners. With good communication skills and a shared commitment to a marriage, even these are surmountable. How to save your marriage https://tr.im/1hjSr
However, at that point where one partner is at the brink of abandoning the relationship, how can the remaining partner save their marriage? If you are at the point where your spouse has asked for a divorce, what can you do?
You must realize first that, you do have a choice. Often, when confronted by a crisis, we find ourselves backed into a corner thinking we have no choice in the matter. How can we change the situation when it involves another person's feelings or decisions? While we cannot, must not and in no way manipulate, blackmail or threaten our partner into changing their mind, we can actually control how we react to the situation. If anything, you must realize that you still have control over yourself. You have the opportunity to look inward and take responsibility for your own feelings and actions and even have the chance to take personal inventory of what your partner is trying to tell you. Are there points in your marriage that must be changed? If so, respond appropriately and proactively.

Your church is the problem, not the county clerk. Do they not understand that they are performing a second ceremony to sanctify the marriage?
If they can't handle that, I think I'd be looking for another church where the people aren't so intolerant and narrow-minded.

a marriage license is a marriage lisense.... there is NO getting 2 different ones....... if you want another one, then divorce and apply for one..... sorry, that is the only way to get 2 license....... you must go to one of those church houses that say you are not married unless you are married in it.. which is totally off the wall..... but, anyway....... God bless

Maybe you need a different christian church. Normally they just bless your marriage, you are not 'married' again. Your religion has nothing to do with it. Marriage licenses are secular.

Ok, what about going to another state to get married? Or another countie inside your state? I would ask the church what the heck they expect you to do about the fact that the court won't give you another one!?
