The true church is the one that you feel is true inside your heart. For me it is nature, the wind and rain and snow, the bird and the brook, the sea and the mountain. The sky and the soil.

The Catholic Church was the first Christian Church and is definitely the only true Church imo. But we do pray for our non Catholic sisters and brothers that we may all one day be united.
I have no problem praying to Mary or to the Saints. I don't pray to them like they are God. But I do ask them to pray for me. I need all the help I can get! :)
And there is nothing wrong with praying for those who have gone before us. I do pray for my deceased loved ones inc friends. Just because someone leaves this earth it doesn't mean you stop loving them or caring about them.

:) Catholics pray to Mary and the saints for the same reason you might go to church at all: to ask someone respected to pray for you, too. By the way - are you really asking for YahooAnswerers to pick the "true" church for you, or did you just want to trash talk about your fellow christians?
The true church is the one God calls YOU to. Don't worry about what God's plans might be for everyone else; you have more than enough to do in learning what God has for YOU.
And no - I'm not a catholic. Not even a christian. But :) I think you are called to be a better person, not a naughty provocateur.

Actually, what is now the Catholic Church is considered the true church. It's beliefs and practices are what the church was about prior to the actions of Martin Luther, and the Great Schism.
All other churches split off from it, starting with Lutheran, and in fact, the Catholic church itself split over the issue of the Trinity. So now we have Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox Catholics.
It has nothing to do with prayer and what you're allowed to pray for - it has to do with who was first.

A good church is one that is concerned with the spiritual growth of its congregation. It is a place where the Gospel is preached, where sin is condemned, where worship is from the heart, where the teaching is biblical, and where opportunities for ministry (to minister to others as well as to be ministered to) exist. Consider the model of the early church found in Acts 2:42-47 (NIV), "They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and fellowship, sharing in the Lord's Supper and in prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. And all the believers met together constantly and shared everything they had. They sold their possessions and shared the proceeds with those in need. They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord's Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity--all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved."

Like you, I used to think it wasn't the Catholic Church, but when I began to really study Catholicism, I found out that, yes, the Catholic Church IS indeed the One True Church.

Well than you know alot don't you and you don't need anyone else's advice. Where did you get your wealth of information? It certainly wasn't the Christian Church that Jesus started because that would be the Catholic Church and we all know that Jesus didn't know what he was talking about. Only all the men who came around 1200 years later knew what true Christianity was. You Sir are pathetic.

rofl. They aren't praying to Mary. And since when do they pray for the dead? My whole family is Catholic but me and I've never heard of that. Praying isn't for the dead, its for the living.
As for what church is the true church... none of them. Its all lies created by the church to control people and take their money.
