Handwriting requires practice. If you sit and practice enough, you will eventually come up with new methods of letters, and they will help you. Don't worry about the scribbling, it's natural. Just write things down often. It's not about focus, it's about how you handle your hands. If you scribble, you are a quite active person, if you write extremely neat, you are a very conservative person. It's that simple, nothing to be embarrassed about. It's all natural, and there's nothing we can do about nature!

Hey sweetie--ADHD almost certainly.
I have it. I'm 31 now and went without treatment for quite a while when I was your age. The first thing to go was handwriting. I know it sucks because it's a very basic function.
If you see a doctor and get proper diagnosis and treatment maybe your writing will come back. It did for me :) and I have to do it in 2 languages.
This is a very important time in your life and I hope you take good care.
Good luck!
PS--I'm not a doctor (obviously) but when I got an anti epileptic at low dose in addition to ADHD meds, and I wrote so much easier. Maybe it would help you.
In the meantime you can take up a hobby that has nothing to do with writing. I have always used running and photography to help me feel good. Maybe you like something like that or music or whatever... Just don't feel bad. You're not the only one that has that problem

what also can effect handwriting is fine motor development, many disorders on autistic spectrum have this problem, it also is called dysgraphia, you also have to be calm when you write, its good advice to start early if you know you will be doing a writing assignment, also if possible, do the writing assignment on a classroom computer or in library or even at home if possible, there is no big rush when writing, i mean its not like the world will end on 5 minutes, also if ur trying to be the first one finished with work, its ebtter if you take your time, dont rush beucase it might just screw your work up then after hading in work it would be too late to edit.

How can you be in 12th grade if you can't write? Have you ever been diagnosed ADHD. Maybe you should try meditating for 3 hours a day and drink some red wine to relax.

Sounds like ADHD. Don't worry, there are lots of people out there with this. The good news is, it's treatable. See if you can get in with your doc and explain to him what's going on. Take care :o)

it could be a lot of things from a medical standpoint. a hyperactive thyroid, bipolar or adhd (the two are closely related), too much stress or even a neurological problem. i would see a doctor to rule some of these things out.
